DPR 523L (09/2013)
Identifier: CRM TECH 1885-25 Date Constructed: 1961
UTM Zone: 11S, 563510 mE; 3724745 mN
Neighborhood: The Cove
Tract: Santa Carmelita Unit No 18; Recorded October 31, 1937, MB 19/31
Owner and Address: Kenneth J. Master, Eric Musser; 53167 Avenida Diaz, La Quinta CA 92253
Updated Description: The subject property was constructed in 1961. CRM Tech described the property as a Modern style single-
family residence in 2006. It is a Contemporary style residential property. The residence has an asymmetrical plan and elevations with
a low-pitch front-gable roof with exposed support beams. Bands of fixed windows run below the eaves at the front elevation. The
front double door is recessed and covered by the roofline. The exterior is clad in stucco. The rear of the residence is surrounded by a
high privacy wall. There does not appear to have been any alterations to the residence since the previous survey.
Updated Significance: A prior survey evaluated the property as status code 6Z - found ineligible for NRHP, CRHR, and Local
Register designation. The current survey found that the dwelling is associated with the theme of Residential Development (1934-
1970s), but it does not possess individual documented significance in relation to this theme. While the dwelling is located within the
proposed La Quinta Cove Historic District, it is a non-contributor due to its architectural style and date of construction.
The dwelling has not been found individually eligible under NRHP/CRHR/Local Criterion A/1/B, as it has not been associated with
significant events or patterns of events in local, regional, state, or national history; not individually eligible under Criterion B/2/B, as it
has not been identified as having an association with an important person; not individually eligible under Criterion C/3/C, as it does
not embody the distinctive characteristics of a type, period, or method of construction; and not individually eligible under Criterion
D/4/D, as further study of the dwelling would not appear to yield information which could be considered important in local, regional,
state, or national history. Additionally, the property was not found to be individually eligible under Local Register Criterion A, as it
was not found to exemplify a special element of the City of La Quinta. The dwelling has not been substantially altered and maintains
integrity from the historic period.
