Identifier: CRM TECH 1885-136 Date Constructed: 1949
UTM Zone: 11S, 564771 mE / 3726033 mN
Neighborhood: The Village
Tract: N/A
Owner and Address: Lavender Bistro INC.; 78073 Calle Barcelona La Quinta CA 92253
Updated Description: The subject property was constructed in 1949 in the Village of La Quinta. CRM Tech described the property
as a Post-WWII Commercial Vernacular style building in 2006. Urbana staff conclude that residence more specifically displays the
characteristics of a Custom Ranch style commercial property. The one-story commercial building was constructed with a low pitch
mix of gable, mansard, and shed forms. The exterior is clad in stucco. It appears that the property was converted from residential to
commercial in the 1980s. Since the previous survey, the building has been re-roofed with metal sheeting. At the front elevation, the
windows have been replaced with a set of double doors. The roof above the double doors has been extended and supported with
narrow columns to form a covered entrance.
Updated Significance: A prior survey evaluated the property as status code 6Z - found ineligible for NRHP, CRHR, and Local
Register designation. The current survey found that the dwelling is associated with the theme of Commercial Development (1934-
1970s), but it does not possess individual documented significance in relation to this theme.
The dwelling has not been found individually eligible under NRHP/CRHR/Local Criterion A/1/B, as it has not been associated with
significant events or patterns of events in local, regional, state, or national history; not individually eligible Criterion B/2/B, as it has
not been identified as having an association with an important person; not individually eligible under Criterion C/3/C, as it does not
embody the distinctive characteristics of a type, period, or method of construction; and not individually eligible under Criterion
D/4/D, as further study of the dwelling would not appear to yield information which could be considered important in local, regional,
state, or national history. Additionally, the property was not found to be individually eligible under Local Register Criterion A, as it
was not found to exemplify a special element of the City of La Quinta. As the dwelling has been substantially altered, it no longer
maintains integrity from the historic period.
