77616 Hidalgo (Calle) DPR 523L (09/2013) Identifier: CRM TECH 1885-145 Date Constructed: 1954 UTM Zone: 11S, 564008 mE; 3726065 mN Neighborhood: The Cove Tract: Santa Carmelita Unit No 6; Recorded August 31, 1934, MB 18/67 Owner and Address: Sharon M Rude; 77616 Calle Hidalgo, La Quinta CA 92253 Updated Description: The 77616 Calle Hidalgo residence was constructed in 1954 in the La Quinta Cove neighborhood. The one- story home was constructed in the Custom Ranch style with an asymmetrical façade. The home has a low-pitch side-gable roof with a wide overhang and open eaves. The residence is clad in stucco with an open veranda spanning the front elevation that is supported by square wood posts with stuccoed arches between. The residence has an attached garage. The previous survey showed a pergola extending the front of the residence with an open eave roof. The residence is partially obscured by vegetation, however, there appears to be four horizontal sliding windows at the front elevation. The subject property has been painted and the pergola has been removed since the last survey, but does not appear to have been significantly altered. Updated Significance: A prior survey evaluated the property as status code 6Z - found ineligible for NRHP, CRHR, and Local Register designation. The current survey found that the dwelling is associated with the theme of Residential Development (1934- 1970s), but it does not possess individual documented significance in relation to this theme. While the dwelling is located within the proposed La Quinta Cove Historic District, it is a non-contributor due to its architectural style and date of construction. The dwelling has not been found individually eligible under NRHP/CRHR/Local Criterion A/1/B, as it has not been associated with significant events or patterns of events in local, regional, state, or national history; not individually eligible under Criterion B/2/B, as it has not been identified as having an association with an important person; not individually eligible under Criterion C/3/C, as it does not embody the distinctive characteristics of a type, period, or method of construction; and not individually eligible under Criterion D/4/D, as further study of the dwelling would not appear to yield information which could be considered important in local, regional, state, or national history. Additionally, the property was not found to be individually eligible under Local Register Criterion A, as it was not found to exemplify a special element of the City of La Quinta. As the dwelling has not been substantially altered, this dwelling maintains integrity from the historic period.
