Updated Description: The 51322 Calle Paloma single-family residence was constructed in 1949 in the Desert Club neighborhood.
CRM Tech described the property as a one-story Modern style building in 2006. The dwelling is a Contemporary style building with
Pueblo Revival elements. This one-story, single-family property faces west from the east side of Calle Paloma. The wood-framed,
rectangular residence is topped with a flat roof, and small stucco eaves along the east and west elevations. All exterior walls are clad
in smooth stucco. Fenestration consists of aluminum-framed, sliding windows. A pair of glass panelled front doors with wood frames
are surrounded by single-light transom and sidelights beneath stucco entablature. A paneled wood door with no decorative trim is
located to the south of the front entrance on the west elevation. The asymmetrical front façade has no entry porch.
Updated Significance: A prior survey evaluated the property as status code 6Z - found ineligible for NRHP, CRHR, and Local
Register designation. The current survey found that the dwelling is associated with the theme of Residential Development (1934-
1970s), but it does not possess individual documented significance in relation to this theme.
The dwelling has not been found individually eligible under NRHP/CRHR/Local Criterion A/1/B, as it has not been associated with
significant events or patterns of events in local, regional, state, or national history; not individually eligible under Criterion B/2/B, as it
has not been identified as having an association with an important person; not individually eligible under Criterion C/3/C, as it does
not embody the distinctive characteristics of a type, period, or method of construction; and not individually eligible under Criterion
D/4/D, as further study of the dwelling would not appear to yield information which could be considered important in local, regional,
state, or national history. Additionally, the property was not found to be individually eligible under Local Register Criterion A, as it
was not found to exemplify a special element of the City of La Quinta. The property underwent significant alteration in 2008. The
fenestration was substantially altered when original window openings were enclosed and new windows replaced original window
materials. A new detached garage was added that same year. Additionally, a pool in the rear was added in 2020. The original front
door location appears to have remained intact, but a new entryway was installed in 2008. As such, the building no longer retains the
historic integrity it did in 2006 when it was initially evaluated.
