77151 Sonora (Calle)
DPR 523L (09/2013)
Identifier: CRM TECH 1885-154 Date Constructed: 1959
UTM Zone: 11S, 563304 mE; 3725477 mN
Neighborhood: The Cove
Tract: Santa Carmelita Unit No 3, Recorded April 30, 1934, MB 18/59
Owner and Address: Thomas Clifford Cox, Melanie Cox; 45446 Indian Wells Lane, Indian Wells CA 92210
Updated Description: The 77151 Calle Sonora residence was constructed in 1959 in the La Quinta Cove neighborhood. CRM Tech
described the property as a Modern style single-family residence in 2006. It is a Contemporary style house with International
influences. The residence has a cantilevered flat roof with narrow open eaves. Exterior walls are clad in stucco. There does not
appear to have been any significant alterations to the residence since the previous survey. The residence is partially obscured by
heavy vegetation. A roll down vinyl or plastic shade cover has been added over the attached garage opening.
Updated Significance: A prior survey evaluated the property as status code 6Z - found ineligible for NRHP, CRHR, and Local
Register designation. The current survey found that the dwelling is associated with the theme of Residential Development (1934-
1970s), but it does not possess individual documented significance in relation to this theme. While the dwelling is located within the
proposed La Quinta Cove Historic District, it is a non-contributor due to its architectural style and date of construction.
The dwelling has not been found individually eligible under NRHP/CRHR/Local Criterion A/1/B, as it has not been associated with
significant events or patterns of events in local, regional, state, or national history; not individually eligible under Criterion B/2/B, as it
has not been identified as having an association with an important person; not individually eligible under Criterion C/3/C, as it does
not embody the distinctive characteristics of a type, period, or method of construction; and not individually eligible under Criterion
D/4/D, as further study of the dwelling would not appear to yield information which could be considered important in local, regional,
state, or national history. Additionally, the property was not found to be individually eligible under Local Register Criterion A, as it
was not found to exemplify a special element of the City of La Quinta. Due to limited visibility during the current survey, the integrity
of the dwelling could not be determined.
