Identifier: CRM TECH 1885-164 Date Constructed: 1958
UTM Zone: 11S, 564217 mE / 3726368 mN
Neighborhood: The Cove
Tract: Santa Carmelita Unit No 14; Recorded June 30, 1935, MB 18/83
Owner and Address: Geraldine Klosson Todd; PO Box 13445, Palm Desert CA 92255
Updated Description: The 51277 Eisenhower Drive residence was constructed in 1958 in the La Quinta Cove neighborhood. CRM
Tech / Mellon and Associates described the property as a Modern style single-family residence in 2006. Urbana staff conclude that
residence more specifically displays the characteristics of a Tract Ranch style residential property. single family home is a one-story
building with a rectangular plan and an asymmetrical facade. The home has a flat roof with open eaves. The residence is clad in
stucco with one large wood framed window, and two aluminum-framed horizontal sliding windows. The windows at the front facade
all have decorative shutters. The current survey found that shutters and roof trim have been painted since the last survey. There
does not appear to have been any significant alterations to the residence.
Updated Significance: A prior survey evaluated the property as status code 6Z - found ineligible for NRHP, CRHR, and Local
Register designation. The current survey found that the dwelling is associated with the theme of Residential Development (1934-
1970s), but it does not possess individual documented significance in relation to this theme. While the dwelling is located within the
proposed La Quinta Cove Historic District, it is a non-contributor due to its architectural style and date of construction.
The dwelling has not been found individually eligible under NRHP/CRHR/Local Criterion A/1/B as it has not been associated with
significant events or patterns of events in local, regional, state, or national history; not individually eligible Criterion B/2/B, as it has
not been identified as having an association with an important person; not individually eligible under Criterion C/3/C, as it does not
embody the distinctive characteristics of a type, period, or method of construction; and not individually eligible under Criterion
D/4/D, as further study of the dwelling would not appear to yield information which could be considered important in local, regional,
state, or national history. Additionally, the property was not found to be individually eligible under Local Register Criterion A, as it
was not found to exemplify a special element of the City of La Quinta. As the dwelling has not been substantially altered, this
dwelling maintains integrity from the historic period.
