COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION MINUTES MONDAY, FEBRUARY 9 , 2015 CALL TO ORDER A regular meeting of the La Quinta Community Services Commission was called to order at 5:31 p.m. by Commissioner Engel. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Commissioners Engel, Blakeley, Johnson, and Simonds ABSENT: None PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Commissioner Engel led the Pledge of Allegiance. PUBLIC COMMENT ON MATTERS NOT ON THE AGENDA - None CONFIRMATION OF AGENDA - Confirmed CONSENT CALENDAR 1. APPROVE MINUTES OF DECEMBER 8 , 2014 Motion – A motion was made and seconded by Commissioners Johnson/Blakeley to approve the Decemb er 8 , 2014 Community Services Commission Minutes as submitted. Motion passed unanimously. Commissioner Johnson voiced concern that the sculptures were not original artwor k (copies of previous work) and no proposals were received from local artists. BUSINESS ITEMS 1. SELECTION OF AN ARTIST FOR THE DESIGN AND INSTALLATION OF A
SCULPTURE AT THE SEELEY DRIVE ROUNDABOUT
Deputy Hylton presented the staff report.
Motion – A motion was made and seconded by Commissioners Blakeley /Simonds to recommend Artist Jane DeDecker to the City Council for the design and installation of a Sculpture titled “On The Count of Three” at the Seeley Drive Roundabout . Motion carried 3 to 1, with Commissioners Engel, Blakeley and Simonds voting YES, Commissioner Johnson voting NO. 2. CONSIDERATION OF TWO COMMISSIONERS TO ASSIST THE CIVIC CENTER ART PURCHASE COMMITTEE Deputy Hylton presented the staff report. Motion – A motion was made and seconded by Commissioners Simonds/Blakeley
to have all Commissioners work at the City booth for the City Birthday Party and Community Picnic. Motion passed unanimously. REPORTS AND INFORMATION ITEMS
