2016 09 12 CSC Minutes COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION MINUTES MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2016 CALL TO ORDER A regular meeting of the La Quinta Community Services Commission was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Chair Johnson. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Commissioners Johnson, Simonds, Chiapperini, Quill and Lambert PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Chair Johnson led the Pledge of Allegiance. PUBLIC COMMENT ON MATTERS NOT ON THE AGENDA – None CONFIRMATION OF AGENDA – Confirmed as corrected. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS 1. COMMUNITY PROGRAMS AND WELLNESS REPORT – AUGUST 2016 Presented by Supervisor Calderon  New Wellness Center hours – Sunday hours possible for future  End of the Year Banquet – 59 attendees  Requests for pool reports 2. FACILITIES REPORT (verbal) Presented by Director Howlett  Cove Oasis Trailhead – Out for Bid, expires 10/29/2016  Spohn Ranch Skateparks agreement - Council consensus with clarification on deliverables for Xpark Presented by Supervisor Ambriz  Adopt -a-Park Program: Friends of the Desert Mountains, Gordon Fidler o November 19th – National Parks Day o Bear Creek Trail, Cove Oasis  Playground equipment & groundcover estimate installation – October 3. ARTS IN PUBLIC PLACES AND CITY ENTRANCES Presented by Manager Larson  City Entrances  Branding – cohesive element ACTION ITEMS 1. APPROVE MINUTES OF AUGUST 15, 2016 Motion – A motion was made and seconded by Commissioners Chiapperini/Simonds to approve the AUGUST 15, 2016 Community Services Commission minutes as submitted. Motion passed unanimously. 2. SCHEDULE CITY FACILITIES TOUR Motion – A motion was made and seconded by Commissioners Quill/Lambert to schedule the Facilities Tour for October 29, 2016 at 8 a.m. Motion passed unanimously. COMMISSIONER ITEMS: Due to invasive Quagga Mussels, water activities such as kayaking are prohibited in Lake Cahuilla. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, it was moved and seconded by Commissioners Chiapperini/Lambert to adjourn the meeting at 6:45 p.m. Motion passed unanimously.
