% MEMORANDUM
CITY OF LA QUINTA
*
TO: RON KIEDROWSKI, CITY MANAGER
FROM: FRANK REYNOLDS, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS/CITY ENGINEE*
DATE. OCTOBER 9, 1987
SUBJECT: AGREEMENT FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR THE COVE
DRAINAGE AND STREET IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
On August 14, 1987 the staff sent requests for proposals to several
consulting engineering firms to provide design services for the above
project, with a deadline for receipt of proposals of September 11,
1987. On that date a total of eight proposals were received.
A committee composed of Mayor Pro Tern Bohnenberger, City Manager
Kiedrowski, Palm Desert Director of Public Works/city Engineer
Richard Folkers, and City Engineer Reynolds then reviewed the
proposals in detail and selected the firm of Kicak and Associates
of Grand Terrace and Palm Desert as having the best approach,
experience and record of performance.
The City Manager and City Engineer have meet with Mr. Kicak and
have determined that it is in the Redevelopment Agen*yY5 best
interest to proceed on this important project on a time and materials
basis since the scope of work is difficult to define, pending the
availability of topographic data and input from affected property
owners. For budgetary purposes it has been proposed that the
compensation for the necessary engineering services will not exceed
**218,5pp. *
It is recommended that the Directors of the Redevelopment Agency
authorize the City Manager to enter into an agreement with Kicak
and Associates for engineering services for the Cove street and
drainage improvements project, said agreement to be subject to terms
and conditions imposed by the City Attorney.
