The La Quinta City Council Chamber is handicapped accessible. If special equipment is
needed for the hearing impaired, please call the City Clerk’s Office at 777-7103,
twenty-four (24) hours in advance of the meeting and accommodations will be made.

If background material is to be presented to the Housing Authority during a meeting,

supplied to the City Clerk for distribution. It is requested that this take place prior to
the beginning of the meeting.
Any writings or documents provided to a majority of the Housing Authority regarding
any item on this agenda will be made available for public inspection at the City Clerk

BUSINESS SESSION
1. INTERVIEWS AND APPOINTMENTS OF RESIDENTS TO THE LA QUINTA
HOUSING COMMISSION
Chair Radi explained the process and invited Mr. Joseph Johnson to the podium.
Mr. Johnson provided information on his background and explained his interest in
serving on the Housing Commission.
After a short question and answer period between Authority Members and Mr.
Johnson, Authority Secretary Maysels collected and read the results of Authority
Members’ ballots:
Votes for Joseph Johnson = 5
[Note: Applicant William Keitel was not in attendance]
MOTION – A motion was made and seconded by Authority Members Fitzpatrick/
Sanchez to appoint Joseph Johnson to serve as a Housing Commissioner for a full
term ending June 30, 2020. Motion passed unanimously.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, it was moved and seconded by Authority Members
Evans/Peña to adjourn at 5:08 p.m. Motion passed unanimously.

STAFF REPORT
AGENDA TITLE: SELECT THE HOUSING AUTHORITY CHAIRPERSON AND VICE-
CHAIRPERSON FOR 2017
RECOMMENDATION
Select the Housing Authority Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson for calendar year 2017.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On September 15, 2009, the City Council established a Housing Authority. The
Housing Authority approved Resolution HA 2009-001 in October 2009, which
adopted by-laws establishing the procedure for electing the Chair and Vice-Chair.
Section 2 of the Housing Authority by-laws states that the Authority shall annually,
at its first regular meeting held after December 30, vote to elect one of its
members as Chairperson and elect another as Vice-Chairperson. The by-laws also
state that the Mayor may not be selected as the Chairperson.
FISCAL IMPACT – None.
