In accordance with law, for deposit in demand bank accounts as Compensating Balance for Services $ 168,322,000 The active noninterest-bearing bank accounts designation constitutes a calendar -month average balance. The balances in such accounts may fall below the above amount provided that the balances computed by dividing the sum of daily balances of that calendar month by the number of days in the calendar month reasonably approximates that amount. The balances may exceed this amount during heavy collection periods or in anticipation of large impending warrant presentations to the Treasury, but the balances are to be maintained in such a manner as to realize the maximum return consistent with safe and prudent treasury management. 2. In accordance with law, for investment in securities authorized by section 16430, Government Code, or in term interest - bearing deposits in banks and savings and loan associations as follows: From To ( 1) 07/13/98 07/17/98 (2) 07/20/98 07/24/98 (3) 07/27/98 07/31/98 (4) 08/03/98 08/07/98 (5) 08/10/98 08/14/98 (6) 08/17/98 08/21/98 Transactions $ 93,900,000 $ 247,600,000 $ (1,106,800,000) $ (130,000,000) $ 169,300,000 $ 831,800,000 Time Deposits in various Financial Institutions In Securities (sections 16503a (section 16430)* and 16602)* $ 29,096,010,000 $ 1,634,890,000 $ 29,343,610,000 $ 1,634,890,000 $ 28,236,810,000 $ 1,634,890,000 $ 28,106,810,000 $ 1,634,890,000 $ 28,276,110,000 $ 1,634,890,000 $ 29,107,910,000 $ 1,634,890,000 Estimated Total $ 30,730,900,000 $ 30,978,500,000 $ 29,871,700,000 $ 29,741,700,000 $ 29,911,000,000 $ 30,742,800,000 From any of the amounts specifically designated above, not more than 30 percent in the aggregate may be invested in prime commercial paper under section 16430(e), Government Code. Attached is a letter from the Contract -Computer Technical support vendor outlining the status as of September 29, 1998. RECOMMENDATION: Receive and File. ohn M. Falcbner, Finance Director Business Computer Networks 9/28/98 John Falconer Director of Finance City of La Quinta PO Box 1504 La Quinta, Ca 92253 Dear John, Southwest Networks is approximately 75% through the Year 2000 audit for the City of La Quinta. At this time, Southwest Networks has a complete inventory of the computer equipment and software used in the daily data processing operations of the city. The majority of the city fileservers, computers and software are Y2K compliant. We will be presenting the city with a report on November 1, 1998. This report will identify any issues of non-compliance and will also contain recommendations for correcting these non -compliant issues. Additionally Southwest Networks has identified following systems, which may be computer controlled or have computers involved in the systems functionality. We will work with the department personnel and include their findings in our report to the City of La Quinta. The major problem in assessing the millenium threat is a complete inventory of your computers and systems. At this time, no major Year 2000 issues are apparent. In the meantime, if any issues of Year 2000 compliance do come up, please fell free to contact my office for immediate assistance. Thanks again for the opportunity to serve the City of La Quinta.
