• The La Quinta Study Session Room is handicapped accessible. If special equipment is
needed for the hearing impaired, please call the Community Resources office at 760-
777-7106, twenty-four (24) hours in advance of the meeting and accommodations will
be made.
• If special electronic equipment is needed to make presentations to the Community
Services Commission, arrangements should be made in advance by contacting the
Community Services office at 760-777-7106. A one (1) week notice is required.
• If background material is to be presented to the Commissioners during a Commission
meeting, please be advised that eight (7) copies of all documents, exhibits, etc., must

order at 5:30 p.m. by Chair Johnson.

approve the February 13, 2017 Community Service Commission minutes as revised.
Motion passed: ayes 4, noes 0, absent 1 (Lambert).
BUSINESS SESSION (DISCUSSION THEN MOTION)
1. CONSIDER ART DONATION FROM MARLA NELSON
Motion: A motion was made and seconded by Commissioners Johnson/Chiapperini to
recommend to Council the art piece #3 Desert Scope as a donation from Marla Nelson
to be displayed at the Wellness Center. Motion passed: ayes 4, noes 0, absent 1
(Lambert).
COMMISSIONER'S ITEMS
• Borrego Springs wildflower bloom video was shared.
• The Commission expressed their disappointment with the Desert X exhibit
options offered to the City. Staff is working with the organization for
participation in the next event.

There being no further business, it was moved and seconded by Commissioners
Simonds/Quill to adjourn the meeting at 6:32 p.m. Motion passed: ayes 4, noes 0,

STAFF REPORT
AGENDA TITLE:: CONSIDERATION OF PARTICIPATION IN THE ANNUAL CITY PICNIC AND
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
RECOMMENDATION
As deemed appropriate by the Community Services Commission.
BACKGROUND/ANALYSIS
The annual City Picnic and Birthday Celebration will be held on Saturday, April 29 at the
Civic Center Campus. Staff is requesting assistance from two commissioners from 9 a.m.
to 1 p.m. to assist with handing out giveaways and desserts.
ALTERNATIVE
The alternative is not to appoint commissioners to assist with the event.

Cancel the August 14, 2017 Community Services Commission Meeting.
BACKGROUND/ANALYSIS
Council will be dark on August 15 and September 5, 2017; as a result of these meeting
cancellations, staff is recommending to cancel the August Community Services
Commission meeting.
ALTERNATIVES
Do not cancel the August 17, 2017 Community Services Commission Meeting.
