IN - City of Industry. CA The 693A Outdoor Sections of split -system heat pumps are designed for quiet, reliable heating during the winter and cooling during the summer. These heat pump systems provide economy of operation through energy conservation. They recover heat for indoor comfort from outdoor air during the heating season and, by automatically reversing the refrigerant system; remove indoor heat and excess humidity during the cooling season. All, models are ARI certified ratings and are UL and CSA'listed. 11 FEATURES ELECTRICAL RANGE—All single phase units are offered in 208/230 -volts. COMPRESSOR—Designed specifically for heat pump duty,.with energy efficiency during heating and :cooling operation. Each compressor is hermetically sealed against contamination to assure long life and dependable performance, internally sprung and externally mounted on rubber isolators for quiet operation. Continuous compressor operation is approved down to. =36°F in the heating mode, and down to 55°F in the cooling mode. -(See heating and cooling performance tables.) All models include`a discharge -tube muffler to pre ent sound transmission of the compressor pulsations to the indoor or outdoor coils. 1 BUILT-IN RELIABILITY .,:COMPON ENTS—Includes a suction - be 'accumulator that keeps liquid refrigerant from reaching the compressor; a low-pressure switch that stops the compressor if refrigerant charge is lost;' a crankcase heater to keep the com- pressor oil warm and free of refrigerant for maximum lubricity; an int" rnalgcompressor relief valve for high-pressure protection; and compressor start capacitor and relay components to assure reliablestarting of the units during brownout conditions and low outdoor temperatures. DEFROST CONTROL BOARD—Incorporates a defrost relay, defrost timer; and low -voltage terminal board. The defrost con- trol is a time/temperature initiation/termination control which includes three field -selectable time periods of 30, 50, and 90 • minutes. WEATHER -PROTECTIVE .CABINET—Steel is protected with a heavy.coating commonly called "galvanizing," then coated with a layer of zinc phosphate to which a coat of modified polyester powder coaling is applied and baked -on. This provides each unit with a hard, smooth finish that will last for many years. All screws'on cabinet exterior are coated for a long-lasting rust - resistant, quality appearance. UNIT DESIGN—All units are equipped with totally enclosed fan motors for greater reliability under rain and snow conditions. The large, wraparound coil uses copper tube and enhanced alu- minum fin and is- designed for optimum heat transfer during heating and cooling. The vertical air discharge carries the sound and air up and away from adjacent patio areas and foliage. Suffi- cient space is provided between rows of composite coils so they can be cleaned with a oommon garden hose. EXTERNAL SERVICE VALVES—Both service valves are brass,, backing seating type with sweat connections. Each valve has a service port for ease of checking operating refrigerant pressures. 'ADDITIONAL STANDARD FEATURES—Include bi-flow thermo- static expansion -valve refrigerant flow control for indoor coil. Wire size selected must have current capacity not less than that of copper wire specified and must not create a voltage drop between service panel and unit in excess of 2% of unit rated voltage. Must use copper wire from disconnect to unit. tThe factory refrigerant charge is sufficient for systems requiring up to 25 -feet of interconnecting tubing. #Single-phase units may use fuses or HACR-type circuit breakers (U.S. only) of same size as noted:= **Consult Low Ambient Installation Instructions for Application. ttLength shown is as measured one way along the wire path between the unit:and the service panel for minimum 2% voltage drop. ##Used with Low Ambient Controller. ***For indicator light function, specified thermostat must be used. Intended for outdoor installation with free air inlet and outlet. Outdoor fan external static pressure available is less than 0.01 inches water columna 2. Minimum outdoor operating air temperature for cooling:mode without'loW ambient operation accessory is 55°F (12.80C). 3. Maximum outdoor operating air temperature-forcooling.mode is 1250F;(51.70C). 4. Maximum outdoor operating air temperature for'heating mode'is 66°F (18.90,C). 5. For reliable operation, unit should•be level in all horizontal -.planes. ' a 6. Maximum elevation of indoor coil above or below base of outdoor unit is: indoor coil above = 50 feet. Indoor coil below = 150 feet. (See items 6 and 7 following) 7. For inter -connecting refrigerant tube lengths greater than 50 feet,-corisuit long tube application bulletin available from equipment distributor. 8. Not more than 3 feet of refrigerant=tube should be buried in the ground. If necessary to bury tubes under a sidewalk, provide a mini- mum 6 -inch vertical rise to the valve connections at the unit. 9. Use only copper wire for electric connection at unit. Aluminum and clad aluminum are not acceptable for the type of connector pro- vided. 10. Mixmatches of indoor coil capacity more than one size larger than outdoor unit capacity may result in inadequate indoor comfort. 41 Day&Night SPECIFICATIONS SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE • Air Conditions tg UNIT MUST BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS night Indianapolis, IN City of Industry, CA —10Catalog No. DN -3269.301 PRINTED IN U.S.A. 3.89 e '. Units are applicable to expansion valve systems and f'rare compatible to a variety of matching Lennox blower powered l and furnace add-on evaporator units, See ARI Ratings table. For 1complete data see evaporator unit bulletins indexed in Coils -Blower ,s C.oil Units section. Compact design of condensing unit cabinet and vertical discharge of air provides ease of concealment for installa- tion on a slab at round level or on a roof. 3s'4 9 .Weather resistant cabinet is constructed of galvanized steel with a baked -on outdoor enamel paint finish for maximum protection r.. from rust and corrosion. Extra large four sided. wraparound coil provides maximum cooling efficiency. Additionally, cooling effi- ciency is increased by the use Of durable copper tubing and ripple- , .edged aluminum lanced fins. Powerful direct drive fan with totally enclosed motor draws air thru the entire coil and discharges it up and away from shrubs and lawn. Rugged, PVC coated steel wire I fan and coil guards are furnished. Compressor is protected from 0.'excessive current and temperatures. Electrical control box is located zi for easy access. Service valves and refrigerant line connections ',,are externally located. Available as options to be ordered extra are; f 7thermostat, timed -off control, low ambient kit, crankcase heater, i' mounting base and refrigerant line sets. 'Condensing units are shipped factory assembled, piped and vvired. In addition, each unit is test operated at the factory to ensure proper operation. The installer has only to set condens- 1ing unit in the desired location, connect refrigerant lines and :make electrical connections to complete a low cost installation.
