A special meeting of the La Quinta City Council was called to order at the
hour of 9:00 a.m. by Mayor Adolph.
PRESENT- Council Members Henderson, Osborne, perkins, Sniff, Mayor Adolph
ABSENT: None
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Mayor Adolph lead the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
PUBLIC COMMENT - None
CLOSED SESSION
-- 1. Conference with legal counsel pursuant to Government Code Section 54957,
! public employee discipline/dismissal/release.
City Council recessed to Closed Session at 9:04 a.m.
11:37 a.m.
The City Council meeting reconvened and the City Attorney announced two actions
were taken during the Closed Session. The first action was to release a statement
that had been unanimously approved by the City Council.
Mayor Adolph read the following statement:
The La Quinta City Council met today to discuss a personnel
matter and wishes to issue the following statement.
The City Manager, Tom Genovese, has served the City of La
Quinta with distinction for 16 years. The City Council believes
it is important to continue to gather all available information
concerning recent events surrounding the City Manager and to
assess its options. Once that is done, the City Council intends
to take appropriate action, taking into consideration the
information obtained.

The City Attorney stated the second action was to instruct staff to add this matter
to the City Council Agenda of November 4, 2003.
ADJOURNMENT
Council Members Henderson/Sniff moved to adjourn to a regularly scheduled
meeting of the City Council to be held on November 4, 2003 commencing with
closed session at 2:00 p.m. and open session at 3:00 p.m. in the City Council
Chambers, 78-495 Calle Tampico, La Quinta, CA 92253. The motion was
unanimously carried.
