Areas must be measured and verified by HERS rater. Improved Duct Location: Supply duct located in. other than attic, as verified by locaJon of -registers (does not require HERS rater verification). Catastrophic Leakage: Pressure pan test reading must be less than 1.5 Pascal a- a house pressure of 25 Pascal. • TXV: Access cover required to facilitate verification. Infiltration Reduction- Infiltration is measured without mechanical ventilation operating. Mechanical ventilation is required for very tight house construction when credits for infiltration reduction using diagnostic testing are.beng used for achieving compliance. These very tight houses are defined as those with SLA of less than 1.5. The compliance documentation (CF -1 R) will contain the measured CFM target value from a blower door test a-: 50 Pascal pressure difference that represents this SLA of 1:5. Mecl-anical ventilation is also required if the builder chooses to design the building touse mechanical ventilation and claims a credit for infiltration below an SLA of 3.0. The compliance documentation (CF -1 R) will contain :he measured CFM target value that represents this 3.0 SLA. If the builder claims credit in a design for infiltration reduciton that is at an SLA of 3.0 or higher, and the actual measured SLA is 1.5 or greater, then mechanical ventilation is not required. If the SLA in this case were below 1.5, alien mitigation (such as'mechanical ventilation) would be required. Outdoor units are equally suited for instal- 1 lation on a slab at grade level or on a rooftop. A variety of matching U up -flow, down -flow and horizontal blower -powered indoor units, with LISTED LISTED optional supplemental electric heat, provide selective sizing and instal- lation versatility. For FM21 applications, see bulletin indexed in this tab section. For indoor unit data, see section, Coils -Blower Coil Units. Outdoor units are test operated at the factory to insure proper operation and shipped ready for installation. Installer has only to locate unit and make refrigerant line and electrical connections. Typical Application Approvals—Units have been tested with matching indoor units in the Lennox Research Laboratory and rated according to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) test procedures and in accordance with ARI Standard 210/240-94. In addition, units have been sound rated in the Lennox re- verberant sound test room in accordance with test conditions included in ARI Standard 270-95. Units and components within are bonded for grounding to meet safety standards for servicing required by U.L., N.E.C. and C.E.C. Units are U.L. and U.L.C. listed. Equipment Warranty—The compressor has a limited warranty forten years in residential installations and five years in non-residential installations. All other covered components have a limited warranty for five years. Refer to Lennox Equipment Limited Warranty included with the unit for specific details. Copeland® Compliant Scroll' Compressor — High efficiency com- pressor features durability, steady uniform suction flow, constant d is - charge flow, high volumetric efficiency, quiet operation and the abil- ity to start under any system load. Use of the scroll compressor eliminates the need for accumulator, crankcase heater, start capacitor and start relay. The compliant scroll type compressor is a simple com- pression concept design consisting of two involute spiral scrolls matched together to generate a series of crescent-shaped gas pock- ets between them. During compression, one scroll is stationarywhile the other is allowed to orbit, not ro- tate, around the fixed one. As this motion occurs, gas is drawn into the outer pocket sealing off the open pas- sage. As the spiral movement contin- ues, the pockets between the scrolls are slowly pushed to the center of the scrolls while simultaneously being re- duced in volume. When the pocket reaches the center, the gas is now at high pressure and is forced out of a port located in the center of the fixed scroll. During compression, several pockets are being compressed si- multaneously resulting in a smooth, nearly continuous compression cycle. Continuous flank contact, maintained by centrifugal force, minimizes gas leakage and maxi- mizes efficiency. The scroll compres- sor is tolerant to the effects of liquid slugging and contaminants. Should this occur, the scrolls separate and allow the liquid or contaminants to be worked to the center and discharged. Low gas pulses during com- pression minimize operational sound level. Factory installed muffler in discharge line, external to the compressor, provides additional sound reduction. Motor is internally protected from excessive cur- rent and temperature. Compressor is installed in the unit on resilient rubber mounts, assuring vibration free operation. 0 The maple leaf symbol in this bulletin denotes Canadian only usage where applicable 01996 Lennox Industries Inc. Outdoor Temperature Sensor ..... 691-1127 L22 & L23 Series 7 -Day Thermostats feature full independent seven-day programming, automatic or manual changeover, built- in time delays, large easy -to -read LCD readout with actual time and temperature in °F or °C for alternating inside and outside temperature readout (with optional outdoor temperature sensor). Two stage.cooling model features low or high speed cooling op- eration indicators. "Check System" indicator shows a need for service. Also features "Aux" and "Enver indicators for supple- mental or emergency heat operation. Check filter indicator flashes at preset interval. Thermostat features system selector switch (Off -Heat -Cool -Auto) and fan switch (On -Auto) forcontinu- ous or intermittent blower operation. Indicator lights show "Am- ber" indicating system is operating in manual mode or (flashing) 3 hour override. "Green" light indicates system demand (turns red during emergency heat operation or flashes red indicating check system). Solid-state electronic technology eliminates bat- tery back-up and maintains thermostat settings during power fail- ure indefinitely. Thermostat has four separate time and tempera- ture settings per day. Individual slide switches are used to settime begin and heat and cool temperatures: "+" and "-" buttons set time of day. "Day" button sets day of week. "Prog/Review" button reviews daily programs and displays programmed time period setpoints. "Manual" button allows manual .control of tempera- ture. "Clear" button erases programmed.setpoints when repro- gramming. "Enter" button enters time of day and temperature setpoints into memory. "Enver Ht" button allows emergency heat operation. Thermostat also features adjustable lockout of supple- mental electric heat. Monitoring of compressor run times and heating times in hours and cycles is also available. Pressing front cover reviews thermostat settings. Intelligent temperature recov- ery automatically computes time to operate system to meet ther- mostat day/night settings. i Optional Outdoor Temperature Sensor is also available and must be ordered extra. With optional sensor, thermostat will give a readout of present outdoor temperature and the lowest and highest outdoor temperatures of the day and times at which they occurred. —2—
