Identifier: CRM TECH 1885-45 Date Constructed: 1952
UTM Zone: 11S, 565728 mE / 3726197 mN
Neighborhood: Desert Club
Tract: Desert Club TR Unit No 5; Recorded October 31, 1949, MB 21/62
Owner and Address: Rachel Delagarza, Pete O Delagarza; PO Box 452, La Quinta CA 92247
Updated Description: The 78675 Avenida La Torres residence was constructed in 1952 in the Desert Club neighborhood. This one-
story, Custom Ranch style single-family residence faces north from the south side of Avenida La Torres. The wood-framed, irregular
residence is topped with a low-pitched, cross hip roof covered with gray composition sheets, and wide, open eaves with exposed
rafters and fascia boards shelter walls sheathed in stucco. Fenestration consists of steel-framed, fixed and casement windows, and a
paneled and glazed wood door is sheltered by an off-centered porch supported by stuccoed, rectangular posts on the asymmetrical
façade. A minor vertical board clad addition has been made to the west elevation, and a wood fence separates the front and rear
yard.
Updated Significance: A prior survey evaluated the property as status code 6Z - found ineligible for NRHP, CRHR, and Local
Register designation. The current survey found that the dwelling is associated with the theme of Residential Development (1934-
1970s), but it does not possess individual documented significance in relation to this theme.
The dwelling has not been found individually eligible under NRHP/CRHR/Local Criterion A/1/B, as it has not been associated with
significant events or patterns of events in local, regional, state, or national history; not individually eligible Criterion B/2/B, as it has
not been identified as having an association with an important person; not individually eligible under Criterion C/3/C, as it does not
embody the distinctive characteristics of a type, period, or method of construction; and not individually eligible under Criterion
D/4/D, as further study of the dwelling would not appear to yield information which could be considered important in local, regional,
state, or national history. Additionally, the property was not found to be individually eligible under Local Register Criterion A, as it
was not found to exemplify a special element of the City of La Quinta. As the dwelling has not been substantially altered, this
dwelling maintains integrity from the historic period.
