Updated Description: The subject property was constructed in 1937 at the southwest corner of 52nd Avenue and Avenida
Bermudas, northeast of the La Quinta Cove neighborhood. The building was originally constructed as a Streamline Moderne style
clubhouse for residents of the Cove. The building was demolished between in 1989 when the City of La Quinta allowed for the
building to be used for firefighter training. The original pool was infilled and the property was converted to a public facility
containing a new community pool, public park, and tennis courts.
Updated Significance: The Desert Club property was initially recorded in 1982 by the Riverside County Historical Committee. At
that time, the site was deemed to be eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places under Status Code 5. The building
on the property was demolished ca. 1989 and subsequently replaced with a new community pool, public park, and tennis courts.
The historic resource is no longer extant. As such, the property is not eligible for inclusion in the NRHP, CRHR, or Local Register.
