Dear Ms. Wieren:
The Community Development Department hereby approves your application request to have a private
party with proceeds going to the Boys and Girls Club of La Quinta at the Painted Cove retention
basin on May 10, 1997, between the hours of 4:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., subject to the following
Conditions:
The provisions of Condition Numbers 1 through 5 shall be completed by May 7, 1997:
1. A building permit is required for the installation of temporary trailers and/or temporary
electric power. Please apply to the Building and Safety Department for a permit (777-7012).
2. Permits for temporary structures or open flame devices shall be obtained from the Riverside
County Fire Department. Portable fire extinguishers may be required. If you have any
questions, please contact Mr. Tom Hutchison, Riverside County Fire Safety Specialist at 863-
8886.
3. Food vendors shall be reviewed and approved by the Riverside County Health Department,
as required.
4. A permit from Alcoholic Beverage Control shall be obtained prior to the event if alcoholic
beverages are served.
5. All property owners within 500 -feet of the retention basin shall be notified in advance that the
event will be held in their gated development.
6. Proof of Liability Insurance in the amount of $1,000,000.00 shall be posted with the
Community Development Department, naming City staff and its representatives as
additionally insured.
General Conditions:
7. All interior private streets within the development shall be open to through traffic in case of
an emergency.

1. Letter explaining the special event plus the nonprofit organization that will benefit from this
one day activity.
2. Provide a site plan which shows the location of all activities planned (Site Plan attached).
3. Permits for temporary use structures (tents, stands, etc.) or any open flame devices shall be
obtained from the Riverside County Fire Department before installation and use. Fire
extinguishers shall be provided, if required by the Fire Marshal (Contact Mr. Tom Hutchison
at 863-8886). Unobstructed fire lanes shall be provided as required by the Fire Marshal.
4. Permission from the Riverside County Sheriffs Department shall be obtained (Contact
Lieutenant Denver Pittman at 863-8990).
5. Portable restrooms shall be provided unless the existing sales facilities are open for usage by
the future guests.
6. Food vendors shall be reviewed and approved for operation by the Riverside County Health
Department, as required.
7. Any extension cords for electricity must be heavy duty and equipped with GFCI electric
grounding provisions. All extension cords must be taped to the ground or buried.
8. Provide an Insurance Certificate naming the City and its staff as additionally insured for this
event (e.g., 1,000.000.00).
9. Permission from Alcoholic Beverage Control if alcoholic beverages are served (568-0990).
10. Provide any information which will permit the City to process your request.

Imperial Irrigation District facilities will not be impacted by the private party to be held on
May 10, 1997 (Minor Use Permit 97-011) at Big Horn Trail and Indian Camp Road.
However, we would like to caution the applicant of the two safety concerns listed below.
Before any cranes, forklifts, or other aerial equipment are raised, please check for
overhead wires.
If ground excavation is required, even for seemingly benign applications such as anchors
and tents, please contact Underground Service Alert (USA). This service is free of charge
provided USA is given at least two working days' notice. You may call toll free at 1-800-
