SUBJECT: MINOR USE PERMIT 98-044
Dear Ms. Mc Grath:
The Community Development Department has reviewed your request to have a ten minute private
fireworks show at the La Quinta Country Club on February 5, 1998, during the 9:00 P.M. hour
according to Section 9.60.170 (Special Outdoor Events) of the Zoning Ordinance. This Department
approves the event provided the following conditions are met by February 3, 1998:
1. Fire Department permits for temporary use structures (tents, stages, stands, etc.) or any open
flame devices or fireworks shall be obtained. If you have any questions, please contact the
Riverside County Fire Department (Planning and Engineering) staff at 863-8886. Existing
^fire lanes shall be maintained during the special event.
2. Adjacent property owners shall be informed of the upcoming special event and associated
parking restrictions. A written notice shall also be sent to the following adjacent private
property owners: La Quinta Hotel, Santa Rosa Country Club HOA, Laguna De La Paz HOA,
Parc La Quinta-HOA, Rancho La Quinta Country Club HOA and Duna La Quinta HOA.
3. The fireworks contractor shall obtain a City business license.

4. The outdoor fireworks show shall be held as described in the attached information. The show
must be concluded before 10:00 P.M.
5. The site shall be left clean of any litter at the close of the event.
6. If ground excavation is required, please contact Underground Service Alert (USA) at 1-800-
422-4133. The service is free of charge provided USA is given at least two days' notice.
Before any cranes, forklifts, or other aerial equipment is raised, please check for existing
overhead wires.
7. No tickets to the private. fireworks show shall be sold.

8. No off-site advertising signs are permitted.
9., Parking for the event shall occur at the clubhouse or on private streets within the boundaries
of the existing country club.
10. Permits for temporary electric facilities shall be obtained from the Building and Safety
Department prior to installation or use.
11. The event organizer agrees to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the City of La Quinta in
the event of any legal claim or litigation arising out of the City's approval of this project. The
City of La Quinta shall have the right to select its defense counsel at its sole discretion.
12. The City may impose additional'conditions, or_revoke this permit, if any problems arise during
the event that needs special attention or consideration.
This decision may be appealed to the Planning Commission provided the written appeal and filing fee
of $175.00 are submitted to this Department within 15 calendar days: Please contact our office if you,
wish to file an appeal and we will assist you.

Canyon Lake 02/05/98 at 7:30 pm at the La Quinta Country Club. I have all the required information from the licensed
Coachella fireworks company (Pyro Spectaculars) necessary to sign and release the permit at this time. I am
