SUBJECT: Minor Use Permit 2000-212 (Lunch canopy at La Quinta Resort & Club)
Dear Mr. Bennett:
The Community Development Department has reviewed your application for the above
referenced Minor Use Permit and has determined that the installation of a temporary
canopy for outdoor lunch seating is an accessory use, permitted under Chapter 9.80
of the Zoning Code. The catering of meals at a resort hotel facility is a ancillary
function, regardless of where or how it is set up, and does not constitute a temporary
event in the context of the Code.
Based on this decision, you may install the canopy as necessary for the meal service.
However, you will need to verify with Building and Safety, and the Fire Marshal, as
to any permits or other clearances which may be required. We will process a refund
of the $75.00 application fee at the earliest opportunity.
