APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
A. The following shall be submitted by the .Applicant to the Planning &
Development Department at the time of permit application unless otherwise
modified by the Planning Director:
1. Completed sign application obtained from the City.
2. Appropriate sign plans with number of copies and exhibits'as
required in the application.
3. Appropriate fees as established by Council resolution.
4. Letter of consent or authorization from property owner, or
lessor, or authorized agent of the building or premises upon
which the sign is to be erected..
B. Plans Required - Information required - the following information
must be shown on the sign plan:
1. Sign elevation drawing indicating overall and
letter/figure/design dimensions, colors, materials, proposed
copy and illumination method.
2. 'Site plan indicating the location of all main and accessory
signs existing or proposed for the site with dimensions,
color, material, copy and method of illumination indicated for
each.
3. Building elevations with signs depicted (for non -freestanding
signs).

SUBJECT: SPECIAL ADVERTISING DEVICE 94-058
Dear Mr. Reynolds:
On November 15, 1994, the above -referenced application was considered and approved by the
City Council to permit two temporary signs to be installed per Exhibit "A" and the following
Conditions of Approval:
1. Signs located along streets without curbs must maintain a'six-foot setback between
the sign edge and the edge of the pavement.
2. The edge of the signs located along streets with curbs shall not be any closer than
five -feet from the back of the curb.
3. The signs shall not obstruct vision of any traffic control devices.
4. All signs must be removed within 24 hours after the event.
5. Written authorization from the property owner must be obtained.before installation of
a sign on private property. A copy of this authorization shall be provided to the City.
6. The two (2) signs shall conform to Exhibit "A".
The two permitted signs shall be displayed from November 16, 1994 to December 5, 1994.

Device 94-058 to permit two temporary signs advertising a holiday
bazaar at the new La Quinta Senior Center on the north side of
Avenida La Fonda.west of Washington Street
Approve Special Advertising Device 94-058, subject to conditions.

On October 31, 1994, Wally Reynolds of the Friends of La Quinta Senior Center submitted an application
(Attachment 1) for approval of two temporary signs that will advertise a holiday bazaar fundraiser. The bazaar
is scheduled for December 3rd and 4th at the new La Quinta Senior Center. The applicant requests that one
sign be permitted at the southeast corner of Highway 11.1 and Washington Street on the Simon property. The
applicant states he has the verbal permission of Mark Simon, the propertyowner. The other proposed sign
would be placed at the northwest corner of La Fonda and Washington Street, on City property. The signs
would be displayed from November 16, 1994, to December'5, 1994.
The proposed signs would be 18 square feet in size (3-feet high by 6-feet wide) on 2-inch by 4-inch posts that
would place the signs at a total height of five feet off the ground. The signs would be, made of wood with a
white painted background and red lettering. The proposed wording on the signs would be as indicated in
Attachment 2.
Recommended Conditions of Approval are found as Attachment 3.
FINDINGS AND ALTERNATIVES:
Staff has reviewed the applicant's request and makes the following findings:
1. The proposed signs are exempt from environmental review;
2. There would be no adverse impact to the public health, safety, or welfare.

3. Provide direction to staff.
