Chairman Rothschild advised that he has received a call from
a Council Member who feels that the entire project of the
Fritz Burns Park and buildings, etc. should be handled by
the Community Services Commission for study and
recommendation. He suggested appointing a chairperson for
this sub-committee.
Mrs. Mendoza noted that the Commission already has a Parks
and Recreation Committee of which Mrs. Ladner is a member
of, and this project would fall nicely under its auspices.
In response to Mrs. Ladner as to what would be involved,
Chairman Rothschild advised that it would involve evaluation
of the buildings and uses of the property.
Following discussion, it was moved by Mrs. Mendoza, seconded
by Mr. Beck that Kay Ladner be appointed as chairperson of
the this sub-committee to develop plans for the Fritz Burns
Park and that the Commission strongly recommend to the City
Council that they be given the authority, with the addition
of some public members to go ahead with this project.
Motion carried.
