COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION - CITY OF LA QUINTA
A regular meeting of the Community
Services Commission held at City Hall,
78-105 Calle Estado, La Quinta,
California.
December 9, 1985
7:00 p.m.
1. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 7:28 p.m.
2. ROLL CALL
Members present were: Commissioners Beck, DeGasperin, Pina,
and Chairman Moran.
Members absent were: Commissioners Griffith, Jaffy and Engle.
3. Chairman Moran read a letter from Commissioner Engle submitting
her resignation from the Commission.
Chairman Moran moved, and Commissioner Beck seconded, that the
Commission accept and recommend acceptance to the City Council
of Commissioner Engle's resignation. Unanimously adopted.
4. PUBLIC COMMENT
5. COMMITTEE REPORTS
A. Commissioner DeGasperin presented a report regarding a
symposium held in La Quinta for troubled youth. A follow-
up program was discussed. It was agreed that the idea
would be discussed further at the next meeting.
6. OLD BUSINESS
A. Chairman Moran asked for clarification of the Minutes of
November 14, 1985 relative to the school bussing program
in La Quinta.
Moved by Commissioner DeGasperin, seconded by Commissioner
Pina, to approve the Minutes of November 14, 1985, as
corrected. Unanimously adopted.
B. The City Manager discussed the planned study session with
the City Council. The study session is planned for
December 16, 1985 at 3:30 p.m.
7. NEW BUSINESS
A. Chairman Moran announced that he had invited Fred Hawkins,
from the Palm Springs Community Commission to come to the
next meeting.
B. Commissioner DeGasperin advocated some type of opinion polling
to determine community needs.

C. Commissioner DeGasperin complimented the City Council
regarding the allocation of funds for the center for
abused women.
8 . ADJOURNMENT
Moved by Commissioner DeGasperin, seconded by Commissioner
Pina, to adjourn. Unanimously adopted.
The meeting of the Community Services commission was adjourned
at 8:08 p.m.
