The project 'is located on the ' north side of Avenida Fernando east of Avenida Del Ray inthe City of La Quinta, California.. l 2. Prior to. grading, the site consisted ' of an abandoned. date grove. Previously removed soils from earlier phases :of grading were stockpiled on the southern portion of the site. 3. The proposed development will include wood framed single family houses. 4. The scope of our work was based on 'the referenced Soil. Engineering Report, plans by J. F. Davidson Associates, Inc. and staking by J.H.T. I .. Construction. 5:.. The project area was cleared of vegetation and debris prior to the stmt of grading operations. 6.. Areas where tree roots were encountered were excavated additionally until the majority of roots were removed. 7. Building areas were excavated to a depth of two '(2) feet below existing grade. An additional twelve (12) inches. was scarified, moisture conditioned and compacted. 8. Other areas to receive' fill were. processed by scarification, moisture conditioning and recompaction. . 9. Fill materials consisting. of on site soils and import soils were placed in thin layers and compacted into place: 10. The final one and one-half (1 1/2) feet of soil placed on the building pad areas consisted of non -expansive imported sand. 11. Areas not achieving minimum density requirements were. reworked and retested. 12. A total of two hundred thirteen (213) compaction tests were performed. 13. Test results indicate that a. minimum of ninety (90) percent of maximum . density has been. obtained in the. areas tested. 14. The test.locations are approximate and were determined by pacing and. sighting from prominent field features. In our work., we have relied on topographic and survey information provided by others. 15.. Thus, even with very careful observation and testing, it cannot be said that all parts of the product comply with the job requirements and the degree of certainty is greater with full-time observation than it is with intermittent observations and testing. Therefore, our opinion, based on observing and testing the work means that there is only a statistically based, reasonable certainty, that the work essentially complies with the job requirements. 18. We make no warranty, express or implied, except that our services were performed in. accordance with engineering -principles generally accepted at this time and location. 19. It is recommended that Buena Engineers, Inc: be provided the opportunity for a general review of any changes to the final design and/or location of the proposed structures in order that earthwork and foundation recommendations may be properly interpreted. If Buena Engineers, .Inc. is not accorded the privilege of making this recommended review, we can assume no responsibility for misinterpretation of our recommendations. . 20. This report. is issued with the understanding that it is the responsibility of the owner, or of his representative, to insure that the information and recommendations contained herein are called to the attention of the architect and engineers for the project and are in into the plans and specifications for the project.
