—
Due to the Art Pieces being unique and consisting of various mediums, staff
recommends each art work be bid individually. There are only a few specialized
businesses and each has their strengths in the types of restoration services offered.
To date, the Desert Dolman and the Burns and Yackman plaques have been completed.
Restoration of the "Spirit of La Quinta" is scheduled to begin on October 16, 2006.
Vandalism of Art in Public Places has been random and will be corrected immediately
following the occurrence. Some vandalism may be corrected by in-house staff, while
other occurrences may require an art maintenance contractor.

Kathleen Hughes, La Quinta Arts Foundation
Christi Salamone, La Quinta Arts Foundation

STAFF PRESENT: Edie Hylton, Community Services Director

BUSINESS ITEMS
Media Plan
Maria Casillas from the City Manager's office discussed 14 promotions via existing
projects and public relations as well as 7 promotions via paid design and
advertising. Ruth Finholt suggested putting the calendar of events in the La Quinta
Chamber Directory. Christi Salamone suggested putting a pullout in the City Report
Newsletter. Terri Henderson suggested staff to contact Matt Bugg for pictures
from the 20`h Anniversary Fireworks Show to use in our promotions. Terri
Henderson suggesting making the post cards with larger lettering and a different
shape to stand out in the mail. Bob Leidner suggested putting the 251h logo on the
2 City Entrance Monuments. Louis Neeley would like to have a stand up poster
display for the Museum to use at different shows. Terri Henderson suggested the
use of more than 40 banners and a subcommittee to put together a plan for the
location and amount of banners to be put out. Kathleen Hughes and Christi
Salamone volunteered to help out with that subcommittee. Andrea Gassman
stated that there will be 8 contests to be advertised. Christi Salamone would like
to see those advertised in the Desert Sun to bring more people into the City. Each
Community Services 251" Anniversary Meeting
advertisement will run approximately $1,000, for a total of $8,000 to run all 8
contests. Bob Leidner suggested asking local businesses to sponsor the ads, but
Ruth Finholt noted that we have already asked our local businesses to financially
participate, but she would contact Chicago Title as requested by Don Adolph.
Golf Cart Promotion
Ruth Finholt received information regarding the Golf Cart Float and suggested
paying $2,000 for a nice golf cart to be done, with the Chamber sponsoring
$1,000 of that amount.
April Events
Edie Hylton presented the Golf Tournament information to the committee. The
committee was fine with everything except the valid index. If someone does not
have a handicap, then their score for the day will be used. The committee would
like the registration process to be less restrictive. The committee agreed to have
the Hamburger/Hot Dog Buffet for lunch and coffee and rolls for breakfast for a
total charge of $80.
Open Discussion
Christi Salamone stated that there will be a Community Concert sometime in
February 2007, not the Gala. The Gala will be on March 3, 2007 and the guest of
honor will be Mery Griffin. The ticket prices have not been set yet.
Louise Neeley stated that the tickets for the Historical Society Dinner/Dance at La
quinta Resort will be $100 each.
Don Adolph stated that the Playhouse "Glengarry Glen Ross" play is tentative.
Bob Leidner stated that his wife, Sue, would be available to do proofreading for the
La Quinta Book, if needed.
