Fire Department personnel have completed a review of the plans you submitted for the above
referenced project. Please be advised the following conditions apply as a part of the conditions for the
issuance of a building permit.
1. Fire Department approval is based upon the 1994 UBC requirements for Group B occupancies.
It is prohibited to use, process or store any materials in the occupancy that would classify it as
an H occupancy per Sec. 307 of the 1994 UBC.
2. The required fire flow of 1500 gpm @ 20 psi shall be available from a (Standard/Super)
hydrant(s) (6" x 4" x 2'/Z" x 2'/2") located not less than 25' or more than 165' from any portion of
the building(s) as measured along approved vehicular travel ways.
3. Provide written certification from the appropriate water company that hydrants will be installed
and will produce the required fire flow.

4. Install Knox key operated switches, series KS -2P with dust cover, mounted per recommended
standard of the Knox Company. Special forms are available from this office for the ordering of
the Key Switch. This form must be authorized and signed by this office for the correctly coded
system to be purchased.
5. Operation of the Knox key switch shall simultaneously open and control the gates for both
directions of travel.
6. Gate entrance openings shall be not less than 16 feet in width. All gates shall be located at
least 40' feet from the roadway and shall open to allow a vehicle to stop without obstructing
traffic on the road. Gates shall have either a secondary power supply or an approved manual
means to release mechanical control of the gate in the event of loss of primary power.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
8. Install portable fire extinguisher's per NFPA, Pamphlet #10, but not less than 2A1 OBC in rating.

9. Automatic gate operations is not a part of the Fire Department approval of these plans.
10. Approved building address shall be placed in such a position as to be plainly visible and legible,
from the street. Said numbers shall contrast with their background.
11. A durable sign stating "This door to remain unlocked during business hours" shall be placed
on or adjacent to the front exit doors. The sign shall be in letters not less than one inch high on a
contrasting background.
12. Smoke detectors shall be Listed forcommercialapplication.
Please contact the Fire Department Planning & Engineering staff for final inspection prior to occupancy.
Applicant/installer shall be responsible to contact the Fire Department to schedule inspections. A
reinspection fee will be required to be paid if more than one (1) inspection is necessary. y
