SUBJECT: TEMPORARY USE PERMIT 97-
Dear Ms. Badger: _
This is to report that the Community Development Department has approved your request to have
a private charity dance at '57-325 Madison Street (La Quinta Sculpture Park),.subject.to. Conditions
# 1, #2 and #3 being met before a building permit for temporary facilities such as stages or tents and
electrical power, which is required, can be issued:
1. A Certificate of Insurance, in the amount of $1,000,000.00, shall be posted naming the City
and its employees as being coinsured for liabilities arising from the special event.
2. A Certificate of Deposit, in the amount of $1,000.00, shall be posted with the Community
Development Department to insure the off-site parking areas are stabilized after the event is
finished. The City shall be named as the controlling party for the deposit. All funds will be
released when the provisions of Condition #13 are met, and shall be contingent upon site
inspection and submittal of verifiable cost accounting 1
3. Approval from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department to conduct the event shall be
obtained. ,

4. A special inspection fee of $100.00 is required when the building permit is issued.
5. Portable restrooms shall be provided for, patrons and vendors as required by the Building and
Safety Department. Restroom facilities to accommodate the physically challenged shall also,
be provided unless provided inside existing buildings.

8. The event may be held on June 28 and June 29, 1997, between the hours of 9:00 P.M. to 7:00
A.M. The maximum number of guests is 300 at any one time, based on Section 9.100.140
of the Municipal Code.
9. Overnight camping is not permitted.
10. Temporary trash receptacles shall be provided so that trash/debris can be 'deposited
accordingly. The site shall be left clean of any litter at the close of the event.
11. Noises or sounds which are physically annoying to adjacent property owners shall not be
allowed. Noise impacts to receptor land uses surrounding the Park shall maintain the "A"
weighted decibel levels as cited in Section 9.100.210 (Noise Control) of the Zoning Code
(i.e., 50 decibels or less at Park property lines)..

12. Any on-site food. and beverage vendors shall obtain a City Business License.

13. Any unpaved areas used fo: parking or traffic conveyance shall be watered as necessary to
remain damp during event activities. Tracked out mud and dirt from vehicles onto City
streets and any paved area(s) shall be removed or kept damp until removal can occur. After
the event, a soil stabilizer stall. be sprayed on these areas to control dust. A receipt from the
contractor showing that the parking areas have been stabilized shall be, submitted to the
Community Development prior to a site inspection. '
14. Temporary off-site signs are not permitted unless separately approved by this Department. -

15. All designated private security personnel must be licensed by the State of California and
possess a current Private Security Guard license if required by the Sheriffs Department.
16. The on-site sale or consumption of alcoholic beverages is not permitted,

19. If ground excavation is required, please contact Undergrou^d Service Alert (USA) at 1-800-
422-4133. The service is free of charge provided USA is given at least two days' notice.
20. Before any cranes, forklifts, or other aerial equipment is raised, please check for existing
overhead wires.
21. The City may elect to add Conditions to this application request to mitigate any problems that,
arise not previously addressed 'herein.

The .following is a detailed description of'our dance which we'd like to
hold at La Quinta Sculpture Park on Saturday June 28th 1997.

Saturday, June 28th, 1917
at sculptureland - 57-325 Madison 8t., La Quints, CA 92253
The Event is a private dance party which will raise funds for .charity.
The Event will.feature dancing, raffles and prise giveaways.
The Event will take place on Saturday June 28th, 1997 at La Quinta
Sculpture Park, 57-325 Madison St., La Quinta, CA 92253. property size
is approximately 20 acres.
There will be no drugs, no alcohol, no fires, fireworks, outside food,
cans or bottles allowed at this event. There will be no rock or rap
music at the event. All music will be pre-recorded with the exception of
one live act who is a Disney recording artist'.
DANCE AREAS
There a will be three dance areas located on the property. There will be
no special dance floor required for this event. Dancing will take plata
"right on the ground."
Three portable stages will be brought in, one for each dance area. The
stage will measure approximately 8x12 feet and will stand approximately
1.5 -to -3 feet high. Each stage will support a record disc jockey and
sound equipment (turntables and mixing console)'.. No other persons will
be allowed -on the stages.-P.A. Speakers will flank the stage and will
sit directly on the ground.
Power for each stage will come from construction grade generators.. Three
will be used, one for each stage. Each will Power.a D.A. system and
dance lighting equipment. The dance lights will be mounted on stands at
the sides of the dance area..There will be no structures or objects
covering the dance areas.
There is a possibility that projection screens may be hung behind one of
the stages, and moving images may be projected onto screens. And in that
event, scaffolding (appiox. 6' high) may be brought in to support film
projectors and the like. Only professional lighting personnel will be
'allowed on the scaffolding.

There will be bottled water and prepackaged snacks sold at tables
located adjacent to the Dance Areae. Since no food preparation will take
place, there will be no open fires, grilles or any other heating devices
used. Bottled water (in 500 ml plastic bottles) will be stored in ice
chests. As mentioned earlier, no outside food or -drinks will be allowed
into the party.
REBTROOKS
Chemical toilets will be brought is for the event. They will be placed
conveniently near the dancing arena; yet still out of the way as to be
unobtrusive.
GRATING
No seating devices will be used at this event. No chairs, benches;
bleachers, etc. will be brought in. Guests wishing to sit will simply
sit on the ground. Guests will be allowed to bring camping tents to the
event.
PARKING
Guests will parkalong Madison Street .(or as and as recommended by La
Quinta Sculpture Park 'staff.
SECURITY
There will -be a team of 20 to 40 licensed, bonded, security officers 30 V` .
working the event. Their responsibilities will include protecting the J 5r
event guests, staff and the property, and to assist the guests in
parking. Security services will be provided by KNIGHT M.W:O. Security.

FIRST AID SERVICE
Licensed First -Aid Medical service will be provided for Event Guests and
Staff. Most likely two E.M.T.e will be hired for the duration.of the
event.
CLEAN -UO
Dumpatere will be brought in for this event—Event sponsors will be
responsible for clean-up of the grounds immediately after the event.
