This letter is being written to clarify various aspects of the plans for the houses at the
above addresses.
(1) Regarding Detail 6/2 : The blocking and nailing at the top plate of the walls is
designed to transfer the shear forces to the roof diaphram. Therefore, it is proper for the
sheathing to terminate at the top plate of the wall.
(2) The chimney framing need not be sheathed as it was deducted from the wall length in
the lateral analysis.
(3) There is a garage note stating "SHEAR WALL THIS AREA TO EXTEND TO
ENTRY ROOF SHEATHING". This sheathing will be equally effective on either side of
the wall and it is recommended that approval be given for such.
