COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION MEETING
DATE: October 9, 2000
ITEM TITLE: Community Park Public Meeting
RECOMMENDATION:
As deemed appropriate by the Community Services Commission.
BACKGROUND:
The second of two public meetings for the public's input on the Community Park
amenities will be held on Wednesday, October 25 from 7:30-9:00 at the La Quinta
High School gymnasium. The first meeting was held on June 7, at the same location.
Approximately 350 people attended the meeting and provided input as to what they
would like to see located at the park site.
Staff is requesting the Community Services Commissioners attend the meeting, to
assist with the logistics of the meeting, such as handing out and collecting surveys
and park naming forms.
Commissioners may also wish to hear the public comments regarding the park
amenities. This information may assist the commissioners when the Commission
makes a recommendation to the City Council on park amenities.
ALTERNATIVES:
The alternatives available to the Commission include:
Attend the public meeting on October 25 to assist with the meeting; or
2. Do not attend the public meeting on October 25; or
3\ Provide staff with alternate direction.

COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION MEETING
DATE: October 9, 2000
ITEM TITLE: Jefferson Street Information
BACKGROUND:
At the September 11, 2000 Community Services Commission meeting, Commissioner
Rebich asked if the property west of Jefferson Street was located in the City of La
Quinta.
Attachment A is a map of the City of La Quinta and its boundaries. There is land
located east of Jefferson Street that is within the City's boundaries.
Commissioner Rebich also asked about the directional sign at the corner of Hwy. 1 1 1
and Jefferson Street which says "Indio" on the sign and lists several housing
developments located in La Quinta.
The sign is provided by the Building Industry Association, and developers "advertise"
on these signs by placing their development on the sign with a directional arrow. Each
developer pays a fee to be represented on the sign.
