Induced Draft
Gas Furnaces
COOUJNG,HEMNG as,000 to 1 ao,000 BTUH Input
11/2 to 5 Tons Add-on Cooling
Induced draft design delivers precise
gas/air mixture for optimum combustion
and minimizes external air infiltration into
the home.
Air Command 80 Heat Exchanger. Its unique design provides
extra efficient gas heating on either natural gas or propane
fuels. The exchanger's compact tubular construction provides
excellent heat transfer for maximum operating efficiency.
Constructed of durable steel, the heat exchanger is corrosion
resistant, reliable and highly effective.
Induced Draft. Amana induced draft gas furnaces utilize an
integral combustion air blower that draws combustion air and
mixes it with gas to deliver the precise gas/air mixture for
optimum combustion efficiency. In addition to precision
combustion, the induced draft feature restricts the vent during
„.ff cycles to minimize up -the -chimney heat loss and reduce
\ tside air infiltration.
Venting. The furnace may be vented vertically using Type B-1
venting pipe and fittings or insulated single wall pipe and fittings
in accordance with the installation instructions and local codes.
Amana Electronic Ignition. Produces rapid, sure ignition and
fast heating. Includes control center and ceramic ignitor that
heats to 2,500°F for sure-fire ignition. The flame sensor proves
ignition and constantly monitors for any interruption.
Efficient, Long Life Burners. Specially designed for depen-
dable operation natural or propane gas. In -shot design. with
built-in cross -lighter eliminates need for adjustable air shutters.
Automatic Controls. Redundant gas valve gives constant gas
pressure; opens and closes silently; provides safety shut-off in
the event of combustion or ignition failure. A thermostatic fan
control regulates blower operation and a limit control provides
a safety shut-off if the unit overheats. The power combustion
feature includes a differential pressure switch for providing
combustion air flow and sensing vent blockage. A special
blower door interlock switch causes the furnace to become
inoperative when the door is removed.
Strong Steel Cabinet. The heavy steel cabinet provides
strength for quiet, rattle -free operation. Foil -faced insulation
lines the heat exchanger compartment to reduce heat loss and
se. On upflow models the return air can be from left side,
t side, or bottom of cabinet. Large semi-permanent air filters
are provided with up -flow models.

GHI Upflow Series
Direct Drive Blower. Quiet, powerful, direct drive blower means
there is no belt to adjust, no slipping or effective loss of power.
Blower is staticaly and dynamically balanced for quiet
operation.
Efficient PSC Motor. Multiple speed Permanent Split Capacitor
motor has oil ports for optional periodic lubrication to help
extend motor life. Motor is rubber mounted for reduced vibra-
tion and noise. Long wire leads permit easy slide out when
service is required.
Electrically bonded paint finish. Paint is electrically bonded
in a smooth, even coating that resists rust and corrosion. A final
high solids polyester overspray adds durability and good looks.
Add On Air Conditioning. Units are equipped for the easy addi-
tion of central air conditioning with a 40 VA transformer.
Optional cooling coil cabinets speed installation.
A.G.A. Certified. Amana induced draft furnaces are design
certified by the American Gas Association. They are approved
for common venting with a gas water heater.
Natural or L.P. Gas Operation. Units are shipped from the
factory set up for natural gas operation. Optional L.P. conver-
sion kit easily converts any model to propane. Any conversion
to propane gas is tie responsibility of, and at the risk of, the
person making the conversion.
Strong Warranty Protection. All models feature a strong
warranty. Ask for details.
Factory Tested. Every Amana-built furnace is thoroughly
checked and test fired before it leaves the factory.

Amana. COOLING ■HEATING
tions and service valves are easy to reach. Embossments in the
bottom allow drainage and air flow under the unit to reduce corro-
sion. Heavy vinyl coated grilles protect the fan motor and coil. Con-
trols and compressor can be serviced through a single large access
panel without interrupting unit operation.
Electrically Bonded Paint Finish. Fights rust and corrosion better
than flow coated or sprayed finishes. Hot dipped, zinc coated metal
is thoroughly cleaned in a six station process and baked dry. The
metal is positively charged and dipped in a negatively charged paint
tank. Paint is pulled onto the metal and bonded in a complete coating
that covers all surfaces evenly. A final high solids polyester overspray
adds to durability and good looks.
VCFC Indoor Coil. Amana made with seamless copper tubing and
ripple edged aluminum fins. 'A' coils are shipped with leakproof drain
pain attached. Optional full height and counterflow cabinets are used
with 'A' coils. All coils have sweat connections and are fully tested
for leaks and shipped with a holding charge of dry nitrogen.
Full Factory Testing. Every unit is test run at the factory to ensure
positive performance.
