Ed Colka Dear Ed,' Per to conversation with your office on this date, I am sending You copies' of the I.C.B:O. ruling -on using tempered glass in the aide aliding windows of a patio enclosure instead of acrylic glazing materials. The.ruling by I.C.B.O. ie based on Section 105 of the Uniform Building Code which allows for substitution of materials of equal to or greater then the materials specified. In the case of this ruling, I.C.B.O. found that the 1/8" tempered glass is equal to or greater then the acrylic material. The I.C.B.O. evaluation reports and standard plans of the various manu- facturers of patio enclosures will be changed to reflect this approval when these.various evaluation reports and standard plans come up for renewal.
