Dear David,
I have reviewed the truss drawings listed below for field modifications that consist of 5/8" cuts in
any top chord panel and have found trusses to be structurally sound given the following:
• . The top chords have no more than two cuts per truss.
• The cuts are spaced no more than 12" apart.
• The maximum depth of cut is 5/8".
• Top chord scabs are applied to each face. The scabs must be the same grade as the
truss chord, centered on the cut(s), fastened using 10d common nails @ 6.0" o.c.
