REQUEST: REVIEW OF ARCHITECTURAL AND LANDSCAPING PLANS FOR A TWO STORY 29.410 SQUARE FOOT AUTO DEALERSHIP FACILITY LOCATION: SOUTHEAST CORNER OF AUTO CENTRE DRIVE AND ADAMS STREET BACKGROUND': The Centre at La Guinta Specific Plan 97-603, as amended was approved by the City Council to allow auto dealerships south of Highway 111 east of Adams Street. Site Development Permit 2004-821 proposes architectural and landscape plans for a fourth dealership, Mazda. The two-story flat roof facility is 27 feet in height. The rectangular shaped structure is proposed to be split face concrete block on three sides with numerous openings for windows, man doors', and service doors. The front elevation will be a steel frame front with heavy gauge metal, stuccoed block and glass. The principle facade elements will be painted black, parrot green with blue man doors and orange accented aluminum window frames. The facility entry feature is proposed to be a metal canopy at the main entry driveway that will match the building's front elevation. . Landscaping is proposed around the perimeter of the property with planters in the 'vehicle display area. The landscape palette consists of trees, shrubs and groundcover including Acacias and Palo Verde trees, and California Fan Palms. Landscaping on Adams Street in the landscape setback was completed with the first phase of the Auto mall. P:IReports - ALRCI02-17-0512 -17 ALRC SDP 2004-821.doc DISCUSSION ITEMS: · Proposed is a flat roof desert contemporary design, the three existing auto dealers have pitched roofs over the sales area portion of their facilities. · 'Evaluate the need for a screen wall along Adams Street to be consistent with the existing screen wall north of Auto 'Centre Drive along Adams Street. · Proposed building materials and colors. · The split face block sample is grey with a touch of white;'the three existing auto dealers have off-white painted stucco on all sides. RECOMMENDATION: Recommend to the Planning Commission approval of Architectural and Landscape plans for Site Development Permit 2004-821 .
