CALL TO ORDER 7:00 p.m. A. Chairman Thornburgh called the Planning Commission meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Chairmian Thornburgh called upon Crnmissioner Moran to lead the flag salute. 2. ROLL CALL A. Chairman Thornburgh requested the roll call, The Secretary called the roll: Present: Commissioners Brandt, De Gasperin, Moran, Walling and Cha;rnv-an Thornburgh AbsE:nt: None Also present were Connnuzity Develogmnt Director Lawrence L, Stevens, Principal Planner Sandra L. Bonner and Secretary ibnna M. Velotta. 3. HEARING:i Chairman Thornburgh introduced the only item of hearing as follows: A. Ia c~uinta General Plan and Environmental Impact Report/Master Environmental Assessment, to consider the Hazards, Cultural Resources, Natural Resources, Ccmmuzity Development, Infrastructure and Housing Elements of the proposed General Plan. (Continued) Cha;irnrvz Thornburgh called for a report from Staff. 1. Camnutity Development Director Lawrence L. Steuens informed the Planning GOmmisslOn that he had not yet cca~leted the revision of the text for the General Plan. He further advised that after having spoken with Chairman Thorz~buigh earlier this date and due to the fact that the Commission has a joint meeting with the City Council and General Plan Advisory Committee on October 14 regarding this matter, they felt it would be worthwhile to review the Planning Commission's camients and points on the issues expected to be discussed at the joint meeting, so the Commission would be prepared in a meaningful mnamumer. Chairman Thornburgh distributed a list of persons who attended both the Commission and City Council meetings. These were persons who had camcerns or requests with regard to the proposed General Plan. He felt a review of the list to reaffirm the Commtission's views would be helpful in attending the joint meeting as one voice. ~~ After a lengthy discussion period covering each of the areas of concern that had been presented at earlier meetings, the Planning Commmission unanimously agreed on all areas except the downtown crnmercial area. /Cha~~Thornburgh and Ccaimissioner Walling, supported by Commissioner ~~,{~(~ )bran, agreed that "Village Camiercial" should be expanded east of NIINU'IES - PI,ANLVING COhP1ISSION October 10, 1985 Page 2. 1. There being no further items of agenda to come before the Planning Commission, Cha:~n Thornburgh called for a motion to adjourn. Con¢nissioner Walling made a motion to adjourn to a special study session to be held October 14, 1985, at 3:00 p.m., at Ia Quinta City Hall, 78-105 Cane Fstado, I,a 4iinta, California. Crnmissioner De Gasperin seconded the motion. Unanimously Adopted. The adjourned meeting of the Planning Commission of the City of La Quinta, California, was adjourned at 9:15 p.m., October 10, 1985, in the Ia Quinta City Hall, 78-105 Calle Estado, Ia Quinta, California.
