PCRES 1990-032PLANNING COMMISSION RESOLUTION 90-032 A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA RECOMMENDING TO THE CITY COUNCIL APPROVAL OF MUNICIPAL CODE AMENDMENT TO TITLE 8, "BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION" REGARDING INTERNALLY ILLUMINATED ADDRESS SIGNS FOR RESIDENTIAL DWELLING UNITS WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of La Quinta, California did on the 26th day of June, 1990, held a duly -noticed Public Hearing to amend Title 8 of the La Quinta Municipal Code to require internally illuminated address signs for residential units city-wide and did continue said Public Hearing to July 10, 1990; and, WHEREAS, at said continued Public Hearing upon hearing and considering all testimony and argument, if any, of all interested persons desiring to be heard, said Planning Commission did find the following facts to justify the recommendation of approval: 1. The Amendment complies with sign regulations of the City, and General Plan. 2. The Amendment provides for better emergency responses at night because of the illuminated house numbers. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Planning Commission of the City of La Quinta, California as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct and constitute the findings of the Commission in this case; 2. That it does hereby recommend approval to the City Council of this Amendment for reasons set forth in this Resolution as illustrated in Exhibit "A" attached. Approved number or addresses shall be provided for all new buildings in such a position as to be plainly visible and legible from the street or road fronting the property. All dwelling units are required to have a wall mounted internally or externally illuminated address sign displayed in a prominent location. The illumination source for the address sign shall be controlled by a photocell sensor or a timer. As an option the address sign may be attached to a single residence mail box pedestal with the same illumination source as stated above, where acceptable. If this option is chosen both mailbox pedestal sides must have said address numbers displaved. RESOPC.060/BJ - 3 -
