The contract drawings and General Notes and Conditions represent the finished structure. They do not indicate the method of construction. The Contractor shall provide all measures necessary to protect the structure during construction. Such measures shall include but not be limited to bracing, shoring for loads due to construction equipment, etc. Protect all materials from moisture while stored on site. Unless otherwise directed and/or specified and/or indicated all materials, equipment, etc., shall be installed in accordance with manufacture/s recommendations and instructions. Warranty: All materials, apparatus and equipment fumished and installed on the job shall be new and free from all the defects. Should any trouble develop within one ('l) year from day of acceptance of the vrrork, due to faulty or inferior material and/or workmanship, the tror.rble shall be conected by the Conbactor without expense to the Owner, covering both material and labor. PROTECTION OF WORK AND FACILITIES Overloading: The Contraclor shall be responsible for the overloading of any part of the structures beyond their safe calculated carrying capacity by the placing of materials and/or equipment, tools, machinery or any other item thereon. No loads shall be placed on the floors or roofs before they have attained their permanent and safe strength. Demolition: The Contractor shall be responsible for all demolition necessary to perform work specified on the drawings. Existing conditions shall be field verifted before proceeding with given portion of work. 3. Fire Precautions and Protection: The Contractor shall take necessary precautions to work, building materials, equipment, temporary field offices, storage sheds and public and private property. FOUNDATIONS All footings shall resl on firm natural soil or approved compacted fill. New concrete to be at the same level as the existing. Maintain concrete slabs six (6) inches above finish grade. Reinforcing shall have the follorving dear cover: a) Concrete pours against earth - three (3) inches. b) Concrete against earth, but formed - tv\ro (2) inches. All slabs shall be poured over one layer of .006 polyethy'lene plastic membrane. Three (3) inches of concrete between wood and earth fill. For more notes refer to foundation plan and details. CONCRETE All formwork shall be straight, true, level, braced and tied to hold its dimensions without sagging or spreading. All concrete shall be placed within 1-112 hours of the time that water is first added to the mix. Concrete shall be thoroughly tamped and vibrated to completely flll the forms and release entrapped air. Slab surfaces shall be tamped with grid tamper. All reinforcing steel shall be firmly supported and tied in place to support a man's weight without displacement. All steel shall be accuratelyfabricated, bent around corners and at intersections and shall be free of grease, mud or other materials, wttich reduce bond. Exposed crncrete shall be formed with 5/8" "Plyform", concealed concrete with plywood or T & G Ship-lap boards. Exposed surfaces shall be finished to uniform color and texlure. All slab surfaces shall receive a steel trowel finish, level or sloped to drain as indicated, finished to a maximum deviation ol 1l4" trom ten ('10) feet straightedge. All ramps shall receive a rake finish perpendicular to the slope. All concrete shall be cured for at least ten (10) days. Curing mayte by flmding covered with polyethylene film over moistened surface or by spraying with compatible curing compound. Do not place concrete slabs on very hot or windy days.
