Prior to; of, of the foam, the substrate is primed when necessary as described above, by spray with the primer SND -1000 as described above, at the rate of I gallon per 300 square feet. The primer is applied at a minimum temperature of 40°F., and shall be allowed, to dry for one-half hour: before. the; foam is applied. The two - component Joam is applied to the primed substrate when the ambient temperature is within the range of 40°F. to 120°F The foam shall not be applied when wind velocities are greater than iO to,15;miles per hour unless adequate wind barriers are provided: not shall it be applied when -precipita- tion is expected. All primed substrates _must :be clean of material as for- unprimed substrates, before foam is applied. rte equipment utilized to spray the foam shall he capable of metering the two components on a 50-50 basis,by volume. The normal color of the foam is light tan. Should the equipment fail to meter the components properly, foams of dark amber color will ,result.,Both components should have a temperature above 70°F. at the time of application. The foam spraying operation should be done so that enough material is laid down to.wet the surface without running or sagging..The wetted surface should be alliiwed to foam completely before a second layer is applied which usually takes 20 to 30 ,cconds. The work should proceed .so that the desired thickness is achic,cd as quickly as possible before moving to another area. The foam insulation is covered within'five days with a finish coat of SWD-1929F elastomeric acrylic coating that is spray applied or roller coated at the rate of 2'/ gallons per 100,squarc feet. This is done in two applications and the final total minimum thickness of dry film solids shall be 20 mils. C. In Over Existing Roofs: The urethane roofing system described above may readily be installed -over an existing roof covering having a 1/2 -inch -thick solid plywood substrate and an asphalt shingle or built-up roof covering. Wood',shake or shingle or other types of roof coverings are not acceptable. Prior to proceeding with the installation of the sprayed foam membrane, the substrate is to be prepared,to assure proper adhesion. All loose roof coating, while cementitious material, loose gravel, dirt, debris must be removed -by means of-scrapiitg, stiff brooming or by power vacuum. Damaged flashing,_ gravel stops and roof jacks are to be.replaced. New and existing flashing and roof jacks are•to be webbed off with glass tape and roof mastic. Blisters in existing composition roofing are to be cut open, nailed down and sealed. Cracks or tears in the felts are to be webbed off with glass tape and roofing cement. Curled asphalt shingles are to be either removed or nailed to the deck. All projections through the roof deck are to be sealed with roof mastic. Particular care is to be exercised to seal under all roof - mounted equipment with cold process asphaltic products and prevent roof depressions when it is not feasible to spray foam. Actual spray'application of the foam is to be subject to the same precau- tions listed under "Installation On New Substrates." On flat surfaces, the foam may be.built up to provide a slope to assure adequate drainage. Before the application of the acrylic finish coating, all vents must be checked to ensure they are not plugged by the urethane foam. D.:Identification: All drums and containers for the material shall be iderltified by the Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (AA -513) label and the following: The prime coat shall be labeled: SWD-1000, ICBO Research Report No. 3182. The two -component SWD-525 urethane foam as manufactured by Southwest Distributing Company. Component A in green drums or containers bearing the label S'A'D-525-RR=3182 and, the'shelf life. Component 'B in black- drums or containers bearing the label SWD-525-RR-3182 and the shelf life. The Elastomeric Acrvlic coating as manufactured by Southwest Dis- tributing Company shall belabcled SN\'D-1929F-RR-3182. III. Evidence Submitted: Installation instructions and reports of tests on bond`: impact, weathering and fire rciardancy per U.B.C. Standard No. 32-7 have been submitted. Findings IV. Findings: That the Urethane Foam. Roofing System described in this report is a fire -retardant roof system complying with the 1979 Uniform Building Code, -subject to the following conditions: I. All material is applied by trained personnel approved by the Southwest Distributing Company. 2. Where moderate or heavy foot traffic occurs. such as for mainte- nance of_equipment, the roof sistem shall be adequately pro- tectedtopreyent rupture or wearing of the surface. 3.. The roof slope does not exceed 4:12. 4. Application complies with this report and the manufacturer's instructions.
