When I affix my engineering seal to a drawing I always include the date
the drawing was signed. In this way the reviewing engineer or building official
will not only know the date the drawing was certified but can also see that the
expiration date on the seal was current when it was signed. For someone to not
accept the engineering because the seal has expired is like not accepting the
design for the Eiffel tower because the engineer has "expired"; the engineering
was valid when it was done.
In any case my engineering license has been renewed to 1998. Please send
a copy of this letter to anyone that questions the expiration date.
