LADDERS AND HANDRAILS SHALL BE BONDED TO THE EQUIPOTENTIAL GRID.
(6) ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT. METAL PARTS OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT ASSOCIATED WITH THE POOL, OUTDOOR SPA, OR OUTDOOR HOT TUB WATER CIRCULATING
SYSTEM, SUCH AS WATER HEATERS, PUMP MOTORS, AND METAL PARS• OF POOL COVERS SHALL BE BONDED TO THE EQUIPOTENTIAL GRID.
EXCEPTION: METAL PARTS OF LISTED EQUIPMENT INCORPORATING AN APPROVED SYSTEM FO DOUBLE INSULATION IS NOT REQUIRED TO BE BONDED TO THE
EQUIPOTENTIAL GRID.
(A) DOBLE-INSULATED WATER PUMPS MOTORS. WHERE A DOUBLE -INSULATED WATER -PUMP MOTOR IS INSTALLED, A SOLID 8 AWG COPPER CONDUCTOR FROM THE
BONDING GRID SHALL BE PROVIDED FOR A REPLACEMENT MOTOR.
(B) POOL WATER HEATERS. POOL WATER HEATERS SHALL BE GROUNDED AND BONDED IN ACCORDANCE WITH EQUIPMENT INSTRUCTIONS.
(7) METAL WIRING METHODS AND EQUIPMENT. METAL -SHEATHED CABLES AND RACEWAYS, METAL PIPING, AND ALL FIXED METALS PARTS SHALL BE BONDED TO THE

EFFICIENCY THAT COMPLIES WITH THE APPLIANCE EFFICIENCY REGULATIONS; AN ON-OFF SWITCH
MOUNTED OUTSIDE OF THE HEATER; A PERMANENT WEATHERPROOF PLATE OF CARD WITH
OPERATING INSTRUCTION; AND SHALL NOT USE ELECTRIC RESISTANCE HEATING OR A PILOT LIGHT.
114(8)1: ANY POOL OR SPA HEATING EQUIPMENT SHALL BE INSTALLED WITH AT LEAST 36" OF

EXCEPTION 1 TO SECTION 114(A)4: LISTED PACKAGE UNITS WITH FULLY INSULATED ENCLOSURES,
AND WITH TIGHT FITTING COVERS THAT ARE INSULATED TO AT LEAST R-6.
EXCEPTION 2 TO SECTION 114(A)4: POOLS OR SPAS DERIVING AT LEAST 60 PERCENT OF THE
ANNUAL HEATING ENERGY FROM SITE SOLAR ENERGY OR RECOVERED ENERGY.

SHALL BE INSTALLED TO ALLOW FOR THE FUTURE ADDITION OF SOLAR HEATING EQUIPMENT; AND'
2. COVERS. A COVER IS REQUIRED FOR OUTDOOR POOLS OR OUTDOOR SPAS THAT HAVE A HEAT
PUMP OR GAS HEATER. SPECIFY TYPE ON THE PLAN.
DIRECTIONAL INLETS AND TIME SWITCHES FOR POOLS. IF THE SYSTEMS OR EQUIPMENT IS FOR A
POOL:
A.THE POOL SHALL HAVE DIRECTIONAL INLETS THAT ADEQUATELY MIX THE POOL WATER; AND
B. A TIME SWITCH OR SIMILAR CONTROL MECHANISM SHALL BE INSTALLED AS PART OF THE POOL
WATER CIRCULATION CONTROL SYSTEM THAT WILL ALLOW ALL PUMPS TO BE SET OR PROGRAMMED
TO RUN ONLY DURING THE OFF PEAK ELECTRIC DEMAND PERIOD, AND FOR THE MINIMUM TIME
NECESSARY TO MAINTAIN THE WATER IN THE CONDITION REQUIRED BY APPLICABLE PUBLIC HEALTH

WATER VOLUME IN 6 HOURS OR 36 GPM, WHICHEVER IS GRETER; AND
IV. PUMP MOTORS USED FOR FILTRATION WITH A CAPACITY OF 1HP OR MORE SHALL BE
MULTI -SPEED; AND
V. EACH AUXILIARY POOL LOAD SHALL BE SERVED BY EITHER SEPARATE PUMPS OR THE SYSTEM
SHALL BE SERVED BY A MULI-SPEED PUMP; AND EXCEPTION TO SECTION 150(P)1E: PUMPS IF LESS
THAN 1HP MAY BE SINGLE SPEED.
VI. MULTI -SPEED PUMPS SHALL HAVE CONTROLS WHICH DEFAULT TO THE FILTRATION FLOW RATE
WHEN NO AUXILIARY POOL LOADS ARE OPERATING; AND
VII. FOR MULTI -SPEED PUMPS, THE CONTROLS SHALL DEFAULT TO THE FILTRATION FLOW FLOW RATE
SETTING WITHIN 24 HOURS AND SHALL HAVE AN OVERRIDE CAPABILITY FOR SERVICING.
2. SYSTEM PIPING.
