They may be installed over com- bustible floors, with airspace clearances on the sides, back, top and bottom incorporated by spacers or markings and with clearances to other combustibles,.as specified in Tables 3, 4 and 5. The fireplaces are for use with manufacturer's listed low -heat appliance chimneys. Overall sizes of the units and hearth extensions are shown in Table 1, clearances to combustible in Tables 3 and 4 and chimney and other accessory details in Table 5. 2.2 Models 36E, 36EC and 36EC II: These fireplaces are constructed with semicircular No. 28 gage galvanized steel outer and top shells. The top is insu- lated with a 11/2 -inch -thick, 2.4 pcf density Owens-Corning Jetcell unfaced glass -fiber batt supported underneath by a No. 28 gage galvanized steel pan. The firebox combustion chamber is formed from No. 22 gage aluminized steel and is protected by 11/2 -inch -thick refractory material on the bottom and 3/4 -inch -thick refractory at the sides and back. The flue collar is fabricated from No. 22 gage aluminized steel over which a No. 26 gage chimney connector is installed. Model 36EC is similar to Model 36E, except for addition of Model CBK-2 blower assembly. Model 36EC II is similar to Model 36E/EC except for the option of using CBK-III blower assem- bly. The models use DESA 8 -inch double-wall chimney installed with 2 -inch clearance to combustibles. The units are supplied with Model G36E glass doors, Model HE36 hearth extension, an integral grate and optional outside combustion air kit Model AK -4E. These models are for installation with 3/4 -inch airspace clearances on the sides and back. 2.3 Model 1100E: The fireplace is constructed with No. 26 gage galvanized steel outer and top shells. The firebox combustion chamber is formed from No. 22 gage aluminized steel protected by 2 -inch -thick refractory material on the bottom and back and 11/2 -inch -thick refractory at the sides. The flue collar is fabri- cated from No. 22 gage aluminized steel and is for connection to DESA 10 -inch double-wall chimney installed with 2 -inch clearance to combustibles. The unit is offered with optional Model G1100E glass doors and Model HE1100 hearth exten- sion. This model is for installation with 1 -inch airspace clear- ance on the sides and back. 2.4 Models 3600 and 3601: These fireplaces are constructed with No. 28 gage zinc - coated steel outer shell. The firebox combustion chamber is formed from No. 24 gage aluminized steel and is protected by refractory, 1 -inch thick on the sides, 7/8 to 1 inch thick on the back and 13/16 to 11/4 inch thick on the bottom. The Models 3600 and 3601 are identical, except that Model 3600 does not incorporate louvers on the front -face plates while Model 3601 does. The units use DESA 8 -inch double-wall chimney installed with 1 -inch clearance to combustibles. The units are supplied with optional glass doors, optional outside air kit Model AK -4, an integral grate and hearth extension Model No. HE36. These models are for installation with 3/4 -inch airspace clear- ance on the sides and back. 2.5 Models 42E and 42EC: These fireplaces are constructed with semicircular No. 28 gage galvanized steel outer and top shells. The top is insu- lated with insulation as described for Model 36E. The firebox combustion chamber is formed from No. 22 gage aluminized steel and is protected by refractory material 11/2 inch thick on the bottom, 1 inch thick at the back and 11/2 inch thick on the sides. The Models 42E and 42EC are identical, except that the Model 42EC has louvers on the front. The units use DESA 8 -inch double-wall chimney installed with 2 -inch clearance to combustibles. The units are supplied with optional Model DG42E glass doors, optional blower as- sembly (for Model 42EC only), optional Model AK -4E outside air kit, an integral grate and hearth extension Model HE -42. These models are for installation with 1 -inch airspace clear- ance on the sides and back. 2.6 Model PN -36: The fireplace Model PN -36 is a see-through unit with two sides covered by glass doors and one side covered by a glass pane. The fourth side, the back of the fireplace, is constructed of No. 22 gage aluminized steel and provided with fiberglass foil -faced insulation. The top assembly is constructed with No. 26 gage zinc -coated steel 251/2 inches high, enclosing the flue collar and chimney connector. The sides are fitted with 1 -inch -thick fiberglass foil -faced insulation. The firebox is constructed with No. 22 gage aluminized steel protected by refractory material, 1 inch thick at the bottom and 1 inch thick on the side. The units are for installation with 3/4 -inch airspace clearance at the back and side. 2.8 Identification: The fireplaces are identified by a metal plate located in the firebox opening stating the manufacturer's name and ad- dress, model number, serial number, clearances to combus- tibles, type of fuel, details on hearth extension and chimney, evaluation report number (ICBG ES ER -3507), electrical rat- ing and the name of the inspection agency, Underwriters Lab- oratories Inc. The label also includes statements that installa- tion of appliance must comply with manufacturer's instructions, the evaluation report and applicable code and ER -3507 that the local building official should be contacted prior to installation. The chimney components and terminations are identified by a UL label bearing the manufacturer's name, clearance to combustibles and part number. 3.0 EVIDENCE SUBMITTED Data in accordance with ICBO ES Acceptance Criteria for Solid -fuel -burning Heating Appliances (AC06), dated April 1989, installation instructions and a quality control manual. 4.0 FINDINGS That the factory -built fireplaces described in this report comply with the 1997 Uniform Building Code- and 1997 ICBO Uniform Mechanical Code', subject to the follow- ing conditions: 4.1 They are fabricated, identified and installed in accordance with this report, the manufacturer's in- structions and the applicable codes. 4.2 Combustion air is provided in accordance with Chapter 7 of the ICBO Uniform Mechanical Code. 4.3 Chimney and vent terminations must comply with Sections 806 and 812.1 of the ICBO Uniform Me- chanical Code and manufacturer's instructions. 4.4 Additional testing and or justification is necessary for installations not covered by this report, such as gas log lighters. 4.5 The products are manufactured in the DESA Inter- national, Inc., facility in Santa Ana, California, un- der a quality control program with Inspections by Underwriters Laboratories Inc.
