Summarized in this report are the results of in-place density testing performed at the subject site
as requested. Testing was performed subsequent to the fine grading of the proposed building
addition area within the previously rough graded building pad. The project site is located at 78-
120 Caleo Bay within the Lake La Quinta development in the City of La Quinta, California.
Compaction testing was performed on October 10, 2014. Testing indicates that a minimum of 90
percent relative compaction was attained in the areas tested. The passing test results indicate
'compliance with the typical compaction requirements of the California Building Code (CBC) and
the City of La Quinta at the tested locations and depths but are no guarantee or warranty of the
contractors work.
Field Tests: In-place moisture/density testing was performed using a nuclear density gauge in
accordance with ASTM Test Method D6938-08. A total of 3 density tests were performed. The
test results are summarized on the attached data sheet.
Laboratory Tests: The moisture -density relationships for the soil were determined in the
laboratory in accordance with ASTM -D Test Method 1557-91.

We have performed a structural observation for the structural framing at the above referenced project and find
it to be in general conformance with the approved structural plans with the exception of the following items:
1. 3'/i" diameter hole through top plate at shear wall 108. (hole was not centered at the top plate)
Repair for the top plate is to provide 1.75X14 LVL blocking under the top plate with 2-A35 at each
block to top plate, extend blocking one stud bay each side of hole. Strap side of top plate with ST6224
strap.
2. Provide top plate splice strapping along shear wall lines /entire length of wall where shear walls occur
as per detail 1 US 1.4 (4H-MSTA36 alternate CS 16 x 36").
3. Install 2' floor hold downs at shear walls 104, 105, 106, 107, 109, 110.
4. Add shear wall sill plate screws as per shear wall schedule at shear walls 100-103, 110, 111.
5. DTC clips at nonbearing walls shall be fully nailed, nails into roof/floor framing shall be nailed to
allow the connector to slide up and down.
6. Install MST60 corner strap at room 9.
7. Post to beam strap shown in detail 7/55.1 shall be verified. (Covered up at time of observation).
8. Shear openings in existing shear walls 112, 114. (room 7) Sheath as per plan.
9. Verify straps shown in detail 19/55.1 and 20/S5.1 at room 8 to room 7 are installed.
10. Boundary nail floor diaphragm at blocking along interior bearing wall at room 2.
11. Install 2-A35 at balcony blocking as shown in details 7, 16, 18/55.3.
12. Install LS50 each side of balcony joist to floor beam where IUS hangers were used in place of U14
hangers as per plan. Only balcony joist that cantilever out require the LS50 connectors.
13. Install 2x4 drops at 32" o/c to support drop soffit framing at fust floor corridor. Lap and nail
alongside TH deck joist (nail into web filler using 3-16d) and side of ceiling joist framing using 3-
16d.
14. Existing MST72 straps that were removed at the existing W 10X49 floor beams over the kitchen and
breakfast rooms shall be replaced and welded to beam tabs and nailed to blocking as noted on the
plans.
15. Verify strap at shear wall 6 at the electrical room as per detail 13/S5.4 is installed.
16. Provide epoxy all -thread for shear wall sill plate anchors as per detail 3/S 1.3 within 9" of sill plate
breaks. 5/8" diameter red -heads may be used at non -shear wall locations. Special Inspection
Required for Epoxy Anchors)
17. Kitchen and kitchen storage not done.
18. Footing at bathroom 1 adjacent to the existing footing to be poured.
19. Provide proposed roof mounted equipment layout, equipment dimensions, weights, and roof access
size and location at the flat roof over the entry to room #7.
Once the above items have been completed please call our office to schedule another structural observation.

We have performed a structural observation for the structural framing at the above referenced project and find
it to be in general conformance with the approved structural plans with the exception of the following items:
1. Install straps shown in detail 19/S5.1 and 20/55.1 at room 8 to room 7.
2. Shear walls 10 and 107 to be sheathed as per framing plan.
Please note this structural observation letter does not include the Kitchen and Kitchen Storage or the pitched
roof diaphragm which was already papered and loaded at the time of observation nor does it relieve the City
in any way from performing their standard structural inspections nor is it in lieu of any code required special
inspections. The structural observation performed should not be construed as a detailed structural inspection
but as a structural observation for general conformance as per CBC 1702, 1710. The above items are to be
inspected and signed off by the City Inspector.

Subject: Compaction Testing — Site Improvements
Summarized in this report are the resdts of in-place density tests performed at the subject site as
requested during the Construction of the various site improvements_ The project site is located at
78 -IM Cateo Bay in the City of La Qmntk Califorida-
Compaction testing was performed from Navernber Ili, M4 to February 25, 2015 Testing
indicates that after reworking areas of low density, the mirumunts of 90 and 95 percent relative
compaction were aff-amed in the areas tested, as required by the project specifications. The
passing test results indicate compliance with the project spedftcaffans at the tested, locations and
depths but are no guarantee or warranty of the contractors work
Field Tests: In-place moisture/densdy tests were perfamed using a nuclear, density gauge in,
accordance with ASTM -D Test Method 6938-68- A total of 20 density tests were performed- The
test results are summarized on the attached data sheets.
Laboratory Tests: The moisbHe-dwsity relationships for the soil and aggregate matenalsware
determined in the laboratory m accordance with ASD Test Method 1557-91.
