A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA, RECOMMENDING TO
THE CITY COUNCIL ADOPTION OF THE OFFICIAL ZONING
MAP FOR THE CITY OF LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA
CASE NO.: ZONE CHANGE 2003-113
APPLICANT: CITY OF LA QUINTA
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of La Quinta, California,
did, on the 25`h day of March, 2003, hold aduly-noticed Public Hearing to consider the
request of the City of La Quinta for a comprehensive update of the City of La Quinta
Official Zoning Map; and
WHEREAS, it is recognized that the current Official Zoning Map (Zone
Code Section 9.20.0201 consisting of Zoning Districts requires revisions and updating
to assure consistency with the General Plan and compliance with current State laws
and regulations; and,
WHEREAS, said Zone Change has complied with the requirements of "The
Rules to Implement the California Environmental Quality Act of 1970" as amended
(Resolution 83-631• The City Council certified Environmental Impact Report (SCH#
2000091023) on March 20, 2002 under Resolution 2002-43. No changed
circumstances or conditions and no new information is proposed which would trigger
the preparation of a subsequent environmental assessment pursuant to Public
Resources Code Section 21166.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of La Quinta, California did adopt
a comprehensive update the General Plan for the City on March 20, 2002, under
Resolution 2002-44; and
WHEREAS, at said Public Hearing, upon hearing and considering all
testimony and arguments, if any, of all interested persons desiring to be heard, said
Planning Commission did find the following facts and reasons to justify the
recommendation for approval of said Official Zoning Map for the City of La Quinta.
1 . The Official Zoning Map is consistent the 2002 General Plan Update, in that the
Zone Districts proposed are consistent with the goals, objectives, and policies
in the adopted 2002 General Plan Update.
2. The Official Zoning Map is suitable and appropriate for the properties involved
_ because it is an implementation tool for the adopted 2002 General Plan Update.

3. The proposed Zoning uses and districts on the Official Zoning Map are suitable
for the lands on which they are proposed, insofar as the majority of the City's
developable lands are generally flat, and those lands with significant slope are
proposed for preservation as Open Space.
4. The continued development of the City requires the continued analysis of
current conditions, and this Official Zoning Map reflects these conditions and
accommodates changes in development patterns which have occurred.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Planning Commission of the
City of La Quinta, California, as follows:
1 . That the above recitations are true and correct and constitute the findings of the
Commission in this case;
2. That it does hereby recommend approval of the above-described request for the
reasons set forth in this Resolution.
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the La
Quinta Planning Commission, held on this 25`h day of March, 2003, by the following
vote, to wit:
