My husband recently passed away and I am trying to sell my property located at
49-806 Coachella Drive, La Quinta. I have recently been informed (via the
"grapevine"--realtor) that my home does not have a permit for a room which was
evidently added on to the house ---probably at the time of construction.
This home had been sold three or more times since construction and before our purchase
without the knowledge of this problem. It was originally purchased by us in 2007 under
the name of "Junkyard, LLC", a company held by Ronald L. and Carolyn W. Hertel. We
were not informed of this problem at the time. Nor was it an issue in 2010 when we
changed the name of ownership to Caron Trust and placed a loan on the house.
I would like to know if a "redo" was permitted ---perhaps done in the 1970's before the
2 or 3 owners previous to us and before La Quinta was a City??? Was it possibly
"grandfathered in"?
I will appreciate any, and all, information pertaining to this matter as soon as possible as
I would like to clear this problem before a sale.
