Mr. Tom Graham Chief Building Inspector Gentlemen: This is to certify that a meeting of the Board of Directors of Islands Homeowners Community Association #3 was held on Nov. 3, 1984 at the home of Mr. Peter C. Birks, the president of the Association. Present at the meeting were: Mr. Birks, Dr. E. Clark Hubbs, Mr. J.H. Gray and the writer, all members of the Board of Directors. The purpose of the meeting was to approve the request of Mr. and Mrs. J.D. McInnes to proceed and complete certain patio and wall alterations to their home at 49-783 Candeleria Circle, a part of the condominium group known as Association #3. You have on file the plans and engineering drawings describing in detail the work for which approval was requested from the Board. A majority of.the Directors present (three) adopted a resolution of the Board giving consent to Mr. and Mrs. McGinnis to proceed with the work. The consent of the one absent Director, Mr. C.M. Wickstrum, was obtained by telephone on the day of the meeting. Since Messrs. Birks, Coleman and Hubbs voted in favor of the resolu- tion, constituting a majority of the five -man Board of Directors, the action of the Board was valid and in accordance with the C.C.&R. governing this Association. Neither Dr. Hubbs nor Mr. Wickstrum are in La Quinta at this time, but both are expected to return within the next week or ten days. I will.undertake, if you request, to obtain from each or both of them a written consent to the Board's fiction. McInnes 49 - 783 Candeleria Circle Homeowners Association #3 The Islands, La Quinta California 60 101984 Q()MMUNITY DEVELSPMETA NT DEPT Pursuant to our recent telephone conversation please be advised that it is the unanimous decision of the Board Members of Homeowners Association #3 that the following restrictions concerning the construction proposal of the above be adhered to. 1) That the patio be limited to an extension, southwards from:the house, of a maximum of 6 ft. from the now (new) existing window and sliding door wall. 2) That the intended sun screen, lattice work extension from the now existing (new) roof line be removed. 3) That no upright pillars be constructed on the patio area. In this regard it is the Boards opinion that pillars would be somewhat ob- trusive, however, it is acknowledged that the tiled roof extension may require support of some kind. The Board recommends therefore that instead of upright pillars extending across the patio that a supporting beam of either wood or steel be used. It is assumed that a pillar at each end of the patio supporting such a beam maybe necessary and if this should be the case an attractive but an un- obtrusive as possible support should be used. The decision contained herewith represents the unanimous agreement of all Board Members and as Mr. McInnes has been delayed for a period of time in completing his project your co-operation in expediting the necessary approvals on behalf of the City would be appreciated. .. 2 w - 2 - You may consider this correspondence as an irrevocable letter of approval subject to the conditions as outlined above.
