Remove all non -embedded gravel or slag surfacing material by means of stiff brooms, spud bars or powered mechanical sweepers. In certain cases roof will be power vacuumed. Exercise care in removing aggregate as to not further damage roofing felts. All gravel will be hauled from site by Bryant Organization, Inc. 2. Remove excess amounts of cold application materials that may be present in puddles or mounds. 3. Examine existing roofing material to make sure residual moisture does not exist. This shall be accomplished by using a moisture meter probe. Where unacceptable amounts exist, the roofing must be completely removed. 4. Blisters and excessively damaged felt shall be removed. 5. Fish mouths, buckles and wrinkles shall be cut flush with built-up roof membrane. 6. Loose sections of the roofing system that are to remain sli'all be mechanically fastened, using staples, screws, or nails Of -'type and size capable Of securing existing membrane to the deck. 7. Some existing built up roofing systems will require the use of primer to achieve good adhesion. Contractor will use primers at his discretion, and as recommended by the foam manufacturer. F1 Preparation II 1. Tear off existing roofing materials down to deck, removing all trash and debris from premises. This tear -off includes all flashing materials that are practical to be removed. Some T -tops, soil pipe flashing and vent pipe flashings may be reused wherever possible. Foam Application Bryant Organization, Inc. Foam Specification # 0 fZ-r C —1 1 as follows: 1. The liquid components of the sprayed -on polyurethane foam shall be maintained and metered using proper equipment designed for foam application. 2. Air temperatures and substrate temperatures shall be within the environmental limits specified by the manu- facturers of the foam. Material temperatures shall be controlled throughout the system of the equipment and shall operate within temperature parameters of the foam manufacturer. 3. Polyurethane foam shall be sprayed in a manner to achieve full and proper spray pattern.' -All foam shall be sprayed in V/2" to 3/a" passes to achieve the specified thickness. Foam Thickness: g/ 1. Protective coating shall be spray applied over the polyurethane foam surfaces in accordance with manufacturers instructions. Some edge and detail work may be roller applied when necessary. Protective coating shall be spray applied in two.or more separate coats to insure proper coverage and cure rate. The coating shall be pin hole free and in continuous film. A criss-cross spray pattern will be used. 2. The first coat, whenever possible, will be applied on the same day that the foam is applied. Weather conditions, curing times, etc., will be determining factor. 3. Coating will be applied to achieve an average dry mil thickness of ZO Mils ± 5% dry mil thickness. 4. Excess roofing materials, trash and debris shall be removed from the premises by the contractor. 5. Bryant Organization, Inc. will furnish it's guarantee on the specified installed systems for years from date of completion. Roofing work performed by Bryant Organization, Inc. will be left in a waterproof condition at the end of each day's work. 2. With the consent of the buyer, any rotten lumber of unsuitable substrate materials which are disclosed as the work progresses and which are not specifically mentioned in this proposal and agreement will_ be replaced or made suitable and the charge for the labor and materials will be additional. See paragraph #15. 3. Our scope of work will/may require the lifting and resetting of roof -mounted heating, ventilating and air- conditioning equipment (H.V.A.C.) in the reroofing procedures. Due to the existing condition of some units, it is possible that once the equipment is reset and reconnected, it may no longer operate properly. It is understood that the maintenance and repair of the equipment is the sole responsibility of the owner. The undersigned does hereby indemnify and hold harmless the Bryant Organization, Inc., against any and all damage to the H.V.A.C. equipment. 4. Worker's compensation, general liability, builder's risk and such other insurance as is required by law will be carried by Bryant Organization, Inc., from the beginning to the completion of above roofing work. 5. The new roof will be warrantied by Bryant Organization, Inc. in accordance with Bryant Organization, Inc.'s standard warranty, which is made a part of this proposal and agreement and incorporated herein by reference. 6. Amounts, weights, thicknesses or other quantities quoted are approximate and shall be subject to normal industry variations and to variation over the entire roof surface. 7. This proposal and agreement is subject to acceptance by the buyer within ten (10) days of the date stated above. No Carpentry, painting, masonry, or any work other than that specified herein is contemplated in this proposal. No oral commitments for additional work, material or other items have been made by representatives of Bryant Organization, Inc. 8. This proposal and agreement which signed by the buyer and the authorized representative of Bryant Organiza- tion, Inc. shall become a contract under the laws of the state where the work is to be done and will thereby be a binding contract upon both Bryant Organization, Inc. and the buyer. This proposal and contract shall be the entire agreement between the parties, notwithstanding any previous communications or negotiations, whether oral or written, there being no covenants or agreements, inducements, guarantees, warranties or considera- tions, other than as set out herein. It is agreed that any changes in this proposal and contract must be approved in writing by Bryant Organization, Inc. at its office address shown in this document. 9. If buyer fails to pay timely any monies due hereunder, said buyer shall be liable to Bryant Organization, Inc. for interest thereon at the rate of one and one-half percent (1V2%) per month from the date said monies become due, until paid. In the event that any monies become due and _payable under this agreement and are collected through probate, bankruptcy or other judicial proceedings by an attorney, or in the event it becomes necessary to employ an attorney to aid in the collection of any monies due Bryant Organization, Inc., then the buyer agrees and promises to pay to or on behalf of Bryant Organization, Inc. the attorney's fees and litigation expenses incurred by Bryant Organization, Inc. in connection with the buyer's failure to make payment when due. 10. At the time Bryant Organization, Inc. completes its work the buyer shall have the opportunity to inspect such ` work. No formal written acceptance need be issued by the buyer to inspect work within five (5) days of completion and shall auto= matically constitute acceptance. 13. The buyer can cancel this contract within three (3) days of signature date without penalty. If buyer cancels after the three (3) days period, a penalty of 20% of contract amount will be charged for such cancellations. 14. We are not responsible for cracks to driveways or sidewalks. due to access to house. Cracks or loose nails in sheetrock ceilings caused by normal roofing operations are not the responsibility of Bryant Organization, Inc. Care will be taken to minimize this potential problem. 15. If said owner of property listed above should require an additional estimate to help the possible problem, Bryant Organization, Inc. will furnish the costs upon said owners request. 18. Contractor's scope of work shall not include the identification, detection, abatement, encapsulation or removal of asbestos or similar hazardous substances. If contractor encounters any such products or materials in the course of performing its work, or if such hazardous materials are encountered by any other firm performing work at the jobsite and contractor determines that such materials present a hazard to its employees, contractor shall have the right to discontinue its work and remove its employees from the jobsite until such products or materials, and any hazards connected therewith, are located and abated, encapsulated or removed, or it is determined that no hazard exists '(as the case may require), and contractor shall receive an extension of time to complete its work hereunder and compensation for delays encountered as a result of such situation and correction. 55 19.
