I. understand that-Mr. & Mrs. Dees, are unhappy. with the process for approvingaheir residential addition in the Flood Plain
at 51-205 Calle Paloma.
They submitted for Building Dept.. plan check on 411/05. After three reviews,,theirbui.ldirig plans were approved on
8/26/05.. .
The plan check folder contains.-.a signed green.sheet and memo from Steve Speer, dated4/28/05, indicating that the
applicant did not need to_eomply with the Flood Hazard Regulations;in LQMC 8.11' However in the course of their
overall review, they were sent"to Public Works for at least PM ?O approval udue'to,their 14 00b. s.f.-plus lot size.

Somehow; this evolved into a: Precise Grading`Plan Mylar which was deli�ered'to my desk on 9/30/05 (while I was in
Maryland) for our approval. I signed the mylar on :your behalf.today (1'0%6/05) grid returned'it to Public Works.
As of this writing, we are ready to issue once we receive 'Public Works approval arid,evidence of payment of school fees.

We have performed field observations regarding framing of Re:
residence. Physical Handicaps have limited Architects observations, but
have relied on others for accessable areas, and assume their abilities for
proper observation.
1. Hold Down bolts @ existing structure installed under special
inspection of Jack. Miller. See enclosed report of approval.
2. Roof Sheating nailing and all connections (including metal ties) to
continue shear transfer to top plate of stud wall was performed
by owner under on site review with Architect. Please note that
owner is field foreman for Imperial Irrigation District. See
enclosed letter from owner dated 3/1/06.
3. Girder truss modified to 3 point bearing. See enclosed Truss Co.
calculation and specification enclosed and attached to addenda
sheet.
4. Garage and new Patio Header Beams were revised to Glu Lam
beams by Contractor. I have reviewed with owner and he
approved. Strength and deflection checked and approved.
5. Many minor corrections were noted and Contractor notified in
writing. Corrections have been re -observed and approved.
6. Eave detail has been revised. See enclosed addenda sheet.
This framing observation does not relieve the City of La Quinta in any
way from performing their structural inspections nor to be constued as
substituting for their normal inspections. This report is not intended to
be detailed but its,,
