Dear Chuck:
Please consider this as written verification for the approval of the screening of the roof mounted
air conditioning unit at 50-900 Calle Obispo per our conversation Monday, February 10, 1998.
The roof mounted equipment shall be obscured from view by a parapet wall constructed as
follows:
1. The width shall be no greater than as required to provide 12" clearance on one side and
30" clearance on the opposite side.
2. The height shall not exceed 7" above the peak of the roof.
3. The wall shall be plastered to match the exterior walls of the dwelling.
4. There shall be an architectural detail to compliment the detail at the overhang on all
three sides of the parapet.
5. You shall provide a letter from the truss manufacturer stating additional loads will be
accommodated by existing trusses, prior to receiving a framing inspection by the City.

Subject: Engineering Review of existing new structure.
On the above date, I reviewed t he above ref erenced
structure in the presence of Mr. Folkers. The s tructure is
at the rough framed stage on the interior. Insu lation has
not bee installed. 'The exterior had received a plaster
(stucco) that.did not interfere with my inspection.
I found the structure to meet or exceed the intent of my
structural designs.
Exception:
I recommended that the beam carring trusses
east of the kitchen be additiona lly secured
by means of Simpson A-35 clips, two each end.
I further recommended a four—by—four post be
installed beneath the beam on the outside wall
(facing street) and that that wall be sheathed
with 3/8', thick plywood. The plywood will
provide additional steadiness for the four—by
four post and,"addit ional shear resistance
for the roof at thi s juncture.
