The proposed development: will include a single-family residence composed of wood framing and stucco exterior. 4. No building plans or survey stakes:were available at the time of this report. 5. The building pad was elevated approximately 1 foot above the surrounding ground elevation of the lot. 6. Initial compaction tests performed at an; appropriate depth of 1 foot below pad grade indicated the soils to be slightly loose and -dry. The. elevated building pad was excavated to a depth of 2 feet below pad grade. The bottom of the excavation was then wetted and compacted. Soil was then placed in thin lifts and recompacted. 7. Compaction tests were limited to:'. -only -the area` of grading, which 1was the immediate building pad. Areas outside the.proposed-building'structure were not graded. 8. Areas not achieving minimum requirements were reworked and retested 9. A total of 8 compaction and moisture verification tests were performed. t10. Test results indicate'that a minimum of 959/6 of maximum.dry density has been obtained in the areas tested. ' 11. The test locations are approximate and were determined by pacing and -sighting from prominent field features.. In our work, we have relied bn topographic and survey information provided by others. ' 12. Based upon intermittent observations and.. nd testing during the ,grading operations, from September 28,. 1.999. through October 4, 1999;. on this project, it is our :opinion that the ' ordinances of the City La Quinta, have essentially been .complied with. 13. As used herein, the term "observation implies only that we observed the progress -of work we agreed to be involved with, -and performed tests on which together we based our opinion as to whether the work essentially complies with the,,job requirements. 14. With any, manufactured product, there are statistical variations. in its uniformity and in the accuracy of tests used to measure its, quality. As ..compared with other manufactured products, field construction- usually presents large statistical variations in its uniformity and accuracy of test results used.: to measure its quality. Thus, even with very careful observation and testing', it cannot be said that all parts of the'product'comply with the job requirements and the degree of certainty is greater with full-time observation than it is with intermittent' observations. and testing.
