Applicant Instructions
A request for a Lot Line Adjustment may be approved only if the following findings
are made:
1. The adjustment involves adjacent parcels.
2. No additional parcels are created.
3. None of the parcels involved are reduced below the
minimum development standards.
The completed and notarised Application shall be submitted with three (3) copies
of the map of record or the current assessor's map page showing the involved parcels
and delineating the proposed lot line adjustment. All exhibits of the proposed lot
line adjustment shall indicate the angle and the distance of each newly adjusted
line. A fee of $ S "—= shall be submitted with this Application.
The Director of Community Development will review the Application, make a recommen-
dation and schedule the case for City Council consideration. The Applicant should
be present at the City Council hearing.

Dear Mr. McCoy:
This letter is to inform you that a record of survey submitted by
Charles Haver and Associates lying within Lots 3, 4, 7 and 8 of Tract
No. 2043 recorded in Book 41, pages 6-7 of Maps has been found to be in
compliance with Section 8762 (para. 2) and paragraphs (a) and (d) of the
Land Surveyors Act. It should be noted that the engineer has also com-
plied with Section 8766.5 of said Act and that the map has also been
examined with respect to Section 8766 (a) (b) (c) by the County Surveyor.
The Land Surveyors Act provides that a City Engineer need only sign
the record of survey if a certificate of compliance, issued by the city,
has been initiated on the map (Section 8762.5). The Land Surveyors Act,
in no way, provides for an examination or charges by the City Engineer
for his review of the record of survey.

RE: Plan Checking Fee for Record of Survey
Dear Sir:
we have just finished processing a Lot Line Adjustment
for our client. One of the verbal requirements of the City
was the monumenting of the new lot lines that were created.
Under Section 8762 of the Land Surveyor's Act, we are re-
quired to file a Record of Survey to show the new monuments,
which we have prepared and are processing.
In Section 8766 of the Land Surveyor's Act, including
sub -sections (a), (b) and (c), the County Surveyor is de-
signated as the person who is to check the Record of Survey
for mathematical accuracy and completeness of information.
In Section 8766.5, it states that the County Surveyor may
charge a reasonable fee for such checking. In the County
of Riverside this fee is $160.00
In Section 8762.5 of the Land Surveyor's Act, it states
that no Record of Survey of land, shown on the latest County
assessment roll, which shows a division of such land into
additional parcels, shall be filed, unless a Certificate of
Compliance with the provision of the Subdivision Map Act is
attached. If the land lies within a City, this Certificate
is signed by the City Engineer. This Certificate of Comp-
liance means that these lots are being created in compl:Lance
with the Subdivision Map Act and have been approved by the
City. In this case, the approved lot line adjustment, fills
this requirement.
We have submitted the Record of Survey to the City of
La Quinta Planning Department, as instructed, to obtain the
City Engineer's signature. We have now been informed that
there is going to be a $200,00 plan checking fee.

Speaking with Mr. Pete Duca, we were informed that the
fee is for checking the map to see if it is technically cor-
rect, as to mathematical data and completeness of information.
This is the job of the County Surveyor not the City Engineer!
Since the Lot Line Adjustment has been approved by the
City and the lots are being created in compliance with the
Subdivision Map Act and any applicable local ordinance, the
signing of the Certificate of Compliance by the City Engineer
should be automatic and only attest that these things have
been done.
If the City Engineer insists on a plan checking fee, we
request that the map be returned to the City for us to pick
up. We will process it through the County first and resubmit
it with their technical review approval. If the City re-
quires a separate technical review, we believe the City should
pay the fee.

A request for a Lot Line.Adjustment may be approved only if the following findings
are made:
1. The adjustment involves adjacent parcels.
2. No additional parcels are created.
3. None of the parcels involved are reduced below the
minimum development standards.
The completed and notarized Application shall be submitted with three (3) copies
of the map of record or the current assessor's map page showing the involved parcels
and delineating the proposed lot line adjustment. All exhibits of the proposed lot
line adjustment shal1 indicate the angle and the distance of each newly adjusted
