A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA ESTABLISHING POLICIES FOR
THE CLOSURE OF STREETS TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of La Quinta, California, wishes
to establish policies regarding the closure of streets to vehicular traffic; and
WHEREAS, Section 1920 of the Streets and Highways Code authorizes
the City to adopt rules and regulations by ordinance or resolution regarding the closure
of any street to vehicular traffic when the City finds that the street is "no longer
needed or vehicular traffic;" and
WHEREAS, the City desires to follow the notice and hearing procedures
adopted in the City's Zoning Code per Chapter 9, Section 200.110.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LA QUINTA, CALIFORNIA AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: The City hereby establishes the following rules and procedures regarding
the closure of streets to vehicular traffic:
A. Prior to closure of any street to vehicular traffic the noticing and hearing
requirements of Chapter 9.200.110 of the Municipal Code will be held.
B. In order to recommend or approve street closure, Planning Commission and City
Council shall make a finding that the street is no longer needed for vehicular
traffic.

La Quinta, California this 15th day of August, 2000 by the following vote:
